Fan's Roman Site - CELTIC GOLD!!!

Thanks again to Land-Mag who dropped me off again & got a quick hunt himself.
I finished off the back of the Roman Metal Working Site with a few brooches but only 1 coin. When Dad arrived I told him to go around the corner to Fan's Roman Site & try there whilst I explored to far end of the Metal Working Site. I was hoping it expanded a little more, because the brooches were heading in that direction. After only 20 minutes Dad comes over & lays a Celtic Gold Coin in my hand plus a nice Roman Coin.:headbang:
Dad did just over 1 hour & I did 4.5.

2 Medieval Buckles
5 Roman Coins
2 Celtic Brooches
4 Roman Brooches
1 Roman Pin
Hammered Penny (York Mint) Edward IV
Early Whadden Chase Gold Stater circa 55BC-45BC.

Not only did Dad get 2 Celtic Gold Coins this month, a new record for him, but this is our 3 Celtic coin dating to 50BC (2 Gold & 1 silver). This site is our best early site by a long way!:icon_thumright:

a big tip of the hat to you both...well done !!!!

My goodness, what a great find. Congratulations to CruDad! You are doing so well with the Celtic coins, it's truly astonishing. Well done, Cru!

Cheers,

Buck

What a beauty of a coin that Celtic is! It looks like a little scene with trees, a crop, and some sort of dwelling. What an eye popper...congratulations on a magnificent find!

Man that gold coin is gorgeous, but I also like the look of the Roman - nice patina and crisp detail. Give your dad yet another attaboy for me.

Yeap, the Roman Coin is the best of its type - for the album.

Cru,

I see your dad kicked your butt on this hunt.....beauty of a gold stater.

Regards + HH

Bill

It doesn't happen very often, maybe only 10% of the time but when it does its one like this!

Believe it or not, that Obverse is Appollos Head. It has some wing motif's in it that are thought to be the emblem of the Tribal King. But they are unsure which King it is.

STOP IT...you'r making me want to stop fishing and go detecting :laughing7: Huge Gold content in that one  possibly a Richard 11 looking at the crown and bushy hair, but a tough one to get a positive ID...Great site.
