On a sad note my mom passed away in Nov of '08. Recently my dad has started dividing her things among the kids and her family. A sad sad day for him but he seems to be handling it well.

I was given this lamp. A family mbr told me the lamp is about 100 yrs old and has always been in the family. I'm just curious if anyone knows anything about it. I am unable to find any markings that would tell me who made it or the brand.

ANyone know anything about lamps? Or where I could look?

Thanks for looking!

I would like to first say that a death in the family is never a good thing. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Secondly, the lamp is gorgeous. Don't know anything about it but surely it will stay in the family. Ron

I am very sorry for your loss, I have lost many but they have moved on to better things. So you move to better things and yourself too to honor them. I hope that lamp burns forever to remember them and help you grow. Its what life is about learning, once you learned enough you can move ahead. Its a blessing but, again sorry for your loss and be strong.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Sorry to hear about your loss. My Dad died suddenly in New Zealand, the day before I was to fly in from Australia to visit. I never felt so lonely in my life. I think about him a lot, and know he is watching over me. Be strong, memories will always be with you.
Nice lamp, can't help you on any info, but I would definitely treasure it for life.

RHS, First let me offer my condolences on the loss of your mother. The lamp is beautiful, it reminds me of a pair (very similar except glass part is different) in my aunt's home. I've be admiring those lamps for years, all I know they had purchased the lamps when they were married in 1943. Your lamp could be older, hopefully someone chimes in and answers your question.

 RR

Sorry about your loss, keep the lamp as an heirloom for your family...write a little story how you got it and who you know had it....someone many many moons from now will appreciate it.

Its a "Gone with the Wind" Hurricane Lamp. Ive sold a few of them at auction, prices range widely. I would have an auctioneer tell you what you could expect from auction out of it, antique dealer would be able to provide the same info as well......
