Dad took a scout around all the farms for any signs of available land (yesterday). He found only 2 options left:
A once ploughed field which is now grass - very bad area so will leave it until last.
An area where the rabbits have eaten the Rape Seed Crop - this area is over 3 acres, so we did 6 hours on this today.

Conditions were perfect - flat, dry on top & wet underneath.

I couldn't believe my luck when on the 3 run I picked off the top a:

7 scrappies
Hammered of Charles I
Buttons
1822 Horse Brass - blinker, with leather!
Twisted silver wire ring
Tudor Book Clasp
bits.....

Hey! That is one of those trunk plates with the integrally cast hooks and decorative device that Iron Patch threatened me with a legal injunction over!

He really was right!

Hey Iron Patch- maybe your seedy attorneys should still get that injunction after all!

They can do what they want, I'm all about detecting the next two weeks!

Another great hunt. Congrats on the Henry I and banner.
What's the button count up to now?

Damn those rascally rabbits!

I found one of those same buttons but couldn't ID it!!!!!!!

In pic. 2, at the bottom right, the anchor button. I found one last year and I could never Identify it or guess its age. Do you know anything about it at all?

Lucky.

Rabbits eating everything? Are you sure you're not hunting Down Under, Mate? :D

Seriously though... I like the horse blinker a great deal...

But the twisted silver ring is my favorite.

Best Wishes,

I think its British Royal Navy - Late Victorian - WWI.

It did cross my mind. Although I haven't seen them made of such thin wire, so I thought it was a later homemade piece :icon_scratch:

Great digs once again, thanks to the wabbits. Just amazing the area clean up. The twisted wire is interesting.
