face on a token

I found this while detecting under an old street torn up in my home town, along with a couple of coins about 100 years old. It's about the size of a quarter. Doesnt appear to be any writing on it, and the obverse is just the concave impression of the face on the front. Anyone have any ideas?

Here is a rare silver denarius from 48BC, thought to be the head of Vercingetorix. Its one I have in my collection. There is a Celtic Gold Stater with his head but its worth about £100,000 ($200,000). Still saving up for it

I don't think it's a token or coin... but rather an "inset" for something... maybe a beltbuckle or a rosette...
