Get a hold of Fisher as a huge recall is ongoing. Just like all industries now the buyers are the crash test dummies to engineer the product on the ground. Copycat of the 1985 Tesoro Golden Sabre notch system they pioneered. When calling Fisher ask for Felix(if memory is ok this am) tech rep for explaintion as the best advice from the folks who manufactured/engineered/tested is keep your Gold Bug Pro as a much better gold unit. John PS-This tech info is for the original 1985 Golden Sabre, now digital and MUCH smaller called the Golden Umax. Like the 19 a coin and relic unit as engineered and marketed.

It's unfortunate that Fisher felt that they didn't have
the time to fully troubleshoot this machine before it
hit the market. The "fix on the fly" engineering process is
a risky one, at best.

Fisher is in a very competitive market right now, and with
their competitors hot on the heals of one another, some
companies will often push their product on the market too
quickly in order to gain more market share and be the first
to offer some new technology. As other businesses have
learned in the past, it all too often backfires.

Apple pulled the same boner with one of their Iphones a few
years ago.
