Cool token, looks like your digger might have found it before you did. What is the Canadian bit about?

Thanks for the replies.

I wonder if its worth at least $20?

Ok maybe I'll get $20. Does anyone know if this establishment was a saloon? They tend to fetch the most money in decent condition.

Suggestions: Contact the Hemphill County librarian in Canadian, Texas and ask her for the answer.

If she doesn't know it, ask for their reference desk and pose the same Q. If they don't have the answer, ask for the name, phone, Emai, etc. of the county Historian.

I think it is a saloon - it was difficult to find info but The Portal to Texas History has some Canadian, Texas newspapers scanned. The Williams & Co. screenshots I found here are from 1887-1888 -

Thanks for the info.
The third screenshot said he had a sample room. So this token was most likley used for the sample room.

When looking for tokens, a great place to start is TokenCatalog.com. They've got 470,521 tokens in their catalog at the moment. I've added a few myself.

If they're civil war era, and you need and expert, Steve Hayden is your guy. As far as I know, after Steve Tannenbaum was killed, and then Rich Rossa passed away, Steve is king of that hill. civilwartokens.com
