Time to take some time to search 4 massive fields & check some iffy google earth targets. I spent 1.5 hours quickly scouting the spots with no joy. I spent the rest of the 5 hour hunt on a nearby Roman Site.
It just shows that on the whole of this farm complex there is only about 3 good arces in several thousand. Proves why we need to be targetted but we still need to find new unknown spots to replace the old ones.

Hot day for an exploratory hunt! At least those areas are written off! Not a bad outing considering?8-)

Medieval finds + a crotal bell would make my day! So little medieval here...

Always interesting to see the finds from across the pond. I can relate detecting vast farm fields. Here in the States during the American Westward Expansion most traveling west were basically "squatters" meaning they didn't own the land and nothing was documented as to who or what was were in earlier times. I have read accounts how here in the Midwest US some would set up a temporary homestead stay for a season or year or so and move on. Makes me wonder about what some of our farm fields are possibly holding in the way of Westward Expansion artifacts!

a good portion of what you find, especially the broken stuff, I have no earthly idea what it is until you say what it is. so much history over there

Yeah, a positive negative result. I can't write off all of that 'Low' area:thumbsup: But the most likely spots are zero's.
