White's Classic SLII and the E series DFX and the Minelab ExplorerII
MM and I went to several old properties. I took my brand spankin' new ExplorerII. We tried to find a lost class ring (for three hours) for a lady with no success. Then we hunted for the goodies.
We met a lot of really cool people along the way, and got invited back to hunt an old road from the 1600's. I'm not sure how it happened, but someone offered to give MM a jar of gold teeth, which he got very excited about. :D

Here's the stuff I found. The Barber quarter was really deep but the soil was sandy, so it was easy digging.

I like the Minelab a lot. It's the heaviest machine I've ever swung, but the DFX is pretty heavy too. I'll use the Minelab for deep old coins and the DFX for big ball fields. The SLII gets used for play sets and trashy spots.

Anyway. It was a blast! I swear, I was so tired at the end of this day I could not swing the Minelab one more swing. When I got home, I slept for 14 hours straight! :D

Thanks MM! That was an adventure!

Cheers!

if you get one of those bungee harnesses it really helps with the weight of the minelab. thats a great barber you found! congrats!

Nice finds with the SE especially the Barb.

To take some of the weight off Doc over at Findmall dot com's "Yank Aussie Prospecting Forum" sells the swing-e-thingey or something like that for ML's.

Thanks for tip, Ant and Hollow. The Minelab is new, but it's an ExplorerII. Not the SE model. I got the machine on Ebay for $675.-.

I've already made a hipmout for the DFX. I use that at the beach.

I was trying to tuck in my shirt for the photo! :D

There were more photos, but all the rest got mysteriously wiped off MM's camera when he was taking a picture of a (slave graveyard) some people showed us in the woods. We just looked at the graveyard out of curiosity. It was really spooky. :D

Don't let him fool you Folks. The truth about that picture I took is, when Ridley found that Barber, I thought he yelled "I have a WOODIE", but he swears he said "I found a GOODIE".
You be the judge. ;D I had my headphones on so, I don't really know.
What I do know is, he kicked my tail again on finds with his new Minelab. We weren't at one of the hunting spots for more than 10 minutes, and I see him burrowing under a bush like a squirrel. Next thing you know, he gets the famous Ridley smirk on his face, and he walks over to me with the Barber quarter!
Myself, I found a lousy 1920 Wheat, and enough aluminum "can slaw" to make a salad. :'(
The good news is, these were very nice folks that let us detect their property. They got us permission to hunt a 1600's-1800's road that was used by Sherman & troops on the way to the Bentonville CW battlefield, another old property, a cotton field that had an old store on it, and a woods with an actual slave cemetery in it. We were only about 5 miles from the famous battlefield.
I took pictures of some of the headstones on the slave graves, then my digital camera freaked out with a "format error". Out of the 6 or 7 pictures I took that day, only the one picture of Ridley you see playing with his Vibra Probe were on my disc when I got home. Very spooky! :o
It was a VERY hot high 90's day, but we survived it.
Dave's a great hunting partner to have.
He also was nice enough to build me a display case for some of my relics.
Cheers to my hunting partner Dave Ridley!!! Congrats on the Barber Dude.

Dang, Ridley, you get an Exp. II, and end up finding a barb. quarter right off the bat. Just awesome!!! I wish I was md'ing in the area you and MM have the pleasure of detecting. Oh, and don't worry, the more you swing that expl., the lighter it will become. You will develop a strong upper body with that machine in no time...

I'm going to be expecting great things from you with that explorer of yours. If you haven't already done so, I think you should get Sunray's X1 target probe for your new machine. It's awesome, and really helps reduce time, minimizes scratching something valuable, and increases the total fun of digging deep plugs with your expl.

Congrats, again, on your finds and your new "deepie" machine!!!

Way to go!! Keep those finds coming!

Outraged,
LMAO! You are one sick twisted individual. ;) I'll start the fire for your burn. ;D
Actually, I'm starting to worry myself. When Ridley told me he was a "swinger", I thought he meant was referring to metal detecting!!! :o :o :o ;D

LMAO... Why does everyone call me twisted.....sigh.....Well i guess there must be something to it...EVERYONE says im insane.

Sweet Barber. :) I bet MM was calling you all kinds of things when you pulled that out. ;D :D

You think that thing is heavy now....add a Sunray Probe(I don't see one on yours). Then you will realize what a Man I am to be able to swing the thing all day. ;) :D Actually, that is why I use the 7.5" coil a lot more - cause I'm a wimp. ;D ;D

I tried to give MM a crash course in using the Minelab right there. Actually he's the one who loves finding old coins. I'm catching the coinshooting fever though!
Yes. I have a newfound respect for Explorer users. Not only because it's heavy. The things it finds are like 18" down. That's a lot of digging! :D
