Experts: Oil spill could affect Space Coast

I was thinking about that. Not impossible, but not probable. Someone is going to get the oil dumped on their shores. Wonder if oil would slow a hurricane ?

So that oil must be awful thick to run those boats through. CNN has some birds just coated in it, with the only thing showing are their eyes...poor things.

They say the Gulf stream will take the oil all the way to England. Wouldn't that be nice for BP?

A hurricane doesnt care whats on the surface of the ocean or land. The oil slick could cause the surface of the ocean where it is to be warmer. Its like putting a black sheet of plastic over your your pool or hot tub in the sun to warm it up.It would be interesting to see if any hurricanes develop where the oil slicks are.

I really believe BP is trying to save this oil head... They are acting like saving it is more important than actually stopping the leak. I use the term "leak" loosly because its gushing oil out at 200,000 gallons per day. The government should have taken this task over by now and send BP the bill.

Just my .02

thoughts?

i think they did $69 million............. still not really enough to replace what they did, seal it up i say....and move on

BP bought the key search terms from Google so that whenever you do a search it leads to their controlled websites.

The oil gushing out is closer to 900,000 gallons a day. The unknown factor is when they say a "day" do they mean a 12 hour period, or a 24 hour period. BP has siphoned 250,000 gallons in a 24 hour period. If a 24 hour period is considered a "day, then over 605,000 gallons are still gushing into the ocean each "day". Not good enough BP !

I get 4,752,000 gallons in a 24 hour period.You figure a 22 inch pipe pouring out 55 gallons a second.

Where did you get 55 gallons a second ? I'm going by what BP gives the news and some average data off of government webpages. However, any catastrophe that involved mother nature could be different and 55 gallons a second would not be impossible.

You cant go by what BP says or what our gov says either. Its all propaganda to make this spill not look so bad.Its a 22 inch pipe with 20,000 to 50,000PSI pushing the oil out.BP drilled thru 30,000 feet of rock to get to that oil deposit which covers a 25,000 square mile area offshore. There are trillions of barrels of oil and gas tucked away that deposit that is about the size of the gulf.

Hi Ladies and gentlemen: How much does BP stand to gain by recovering this oil as against what they will lose in court battles?

Obviously, it is far better to stop it as quick as possible, which they are trying to do. There are only a handful of people that trained to handle this and BP has them all working on the problem right now.

What ability or power has the gov't in turn to stop this loss, with the exception of an Nuclear device that has been suggested?

Don Jose de La Mancha

So do you expect the floor of the Gulf to possibly collapse at some future point ? I suspect some of the Carribean Islands will suffer first. I am concerned this is going to leach into Florida aquifers.

Here is a clearer image of the oil leak. Bear in mind it appears to be another "looped" video.

There is also another 2nd leak they are not talking much about.

Beach goers should use commom sense, theres enough about the nasty water on the news.Degreaser is more toxic than the crude oil.Degreaser will remove layers of skin, not to mention what it would do to your eyeballs, worse if it gets ingested for humans or ocean critters. Its time for a class action lawsuit with BP oil for destroying the ocean and all life in it.
