Experiences Using a Wireless Headset please.

Maybe it's the way I'm doing things but plugging in and out the headset is a pain.? And the wire always seems to be in the way or the unit is trying to pull the headset off of my head, etc, etc, etc.? I own a comfortable full headset that has an FM radio internal to it.? I'm thinking about purchasing one of the inexpensive FM transmitters that are appearing to connect IPODS to car radios etc.? An example is BELKIN COMPONENTS? TuneCast Mobile FM Transmitter? for $19.99.

With it, an adaptor for the phone jack and a couple batteries I should be in business.? Has any one had any success or problems with this type of setup, or an alternate solution to the problem?? Has anybody had a problem with an FM transmitter interfering with their MD?

I would think there is too much risk of interferance. You may get sounds from anoyher source of someone mught hear your detector on thier radio. I just don't like the idea of missing a sound from my detector.

I have actually done this, I bought a Radio shack FM transmiter and put it on my machine,
then got an FM radio and hung it around my neck, the problem with the FM headset is that it
seems to be to far away from the transmiter to get a good signal, and what you can hear drifts
in and out with radio music in the back ground. So with the FM radio hanging around my neck
at chest level, it helped to clear up this problem. The Radio Shack version has 4 preset FM stations
but the one your talking about, "Belkin" I just bought and it appears you can set it to any open available
frequency and it will transmit accross that one, so you scan your Radio and find a snow chanel
and then set the Belkin to that station, Although I have not had a chance to field use mine yet
in tests it seems to work well.

The reason I did it was because I get tired of putting my machine down, only to have my headphone get jerked off my head.
Or as I swing my machine the headphone cord wraps around the box, and suddenly gets jerked off.
Or my machine is on the ground and I stand up quick and get them jerked off, or walking in the woods and having my
headphone cord get caught in the branches and tree's.
So I can hang the radio under my shirt, and have the transmitter velcro'd to the machine, it works good.

Just to let you know I used this set up over the weekend and it worked like a charm,
I was real happy with the way it worked, albeit sometimes it drifted a little, but it probably would not if I found a "blank" station to transmit over.
But I did not have the trouble with this one that I had with the radio shack version.
