I found a Classic Head large cent on New Year's Eve, so it has to be a favorite! Sorry there's no pic, it's in oil soaking. Year looks to be 1808.

Thanks for posting. That would be a awesome coin to end 2015. If you can sometime soon remove it from the oil just for a minute and try a picture. Sometimes they look real good if you get a picture right after you gently wipe the oil off, put it on the right angle and under good light before the oil drys.

Mine was an 1812 eagle cockade pin found in about 5 feet water. It was preserved beautifully in about 1-2" of lake bottom clay. It is now displayed proudly on the wall of our living room.

My favourite relic find of 2015 is this Indian Wars era hat badge. I didn't realize what it was until I straightened it out. I managed to not break it, but a couple of weeks later the pin part dried up and fell off. Luckily Antiquarian recommended a really good relic conservation/restorer to me. It should be arriving to him in the next few days for repair. I can't wait to get it back.View attachment 1258223View attachment 1258225

And as for coins, this four silver spill of two Vicky quarters, Vicky dime, and George V dime was my favourite. My oldest Canadian silver, and first Vicky quarter ever. View attachment 1258227View attachment 1258228
I like that Indian Wars Hat Badge J.C.

2015 was the begining of my MD hobby. My favorite 15 find would have to be my 1851 Federal Regulation Calvary Officers Sword Buckle / Plate.

Found not 30 yards from a newly constructed addition onto a friend's old house.

Thought it was another plow bit until I flipped it over and saw what appeared to be an eagle.

Hi new to this site . trying to upload a photo of an early Tudor ring I found last may.
Silver with gold gilt. Confirmed by British museum who have taken the ring and are holding an inquest.

My two favorite finds of 2015 was a 1821 large cent that I found at a 1850s home and my first silver ever, a 1903 barber half dollar that I found in our horse field.. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1453747216.582831.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1453746777.061598.jpg

My best 2015 finds were from a late 1800s house that was being bulldozed. The house was abandoned, and is now gone. All this history would have been wasted. I found all these without a metal detector. I am happy with what I found, but wonder all the things I missed.

I'd have to say that my greatest find of 2015 was finding Detectorists on Netflix which reintroduced me to this wonderful hobby after 20+ years.

That sounds like two good finds to me! [emoji106]

Yes, it's a great show. Took a couple episodes to grow on me but I'm hooked. And sadly Canadian Netflix only has the first season. Can't even watch on YouTube, it says "not authorized to watch this in your country". Hopefully someday.

I was able to watch the full season 2 (plus the Christmas Special) from a website called dailymotion.com. While many have uploaded episodes, I found the user named "Full Episodes" were the most reliable and would play without issue. Your mileage might vary. I had never heard of this website before, so I checked it out on a junker PC just to make sure it wasn't loaded with malware and found no issues.

I'm hoping Mackenzie Crook writes a 3rd series.

Well if a Spanish half real converted to a cufflink, then back to spending money qualifies for Abe, then I guess it's good enough for me too. I had a really down year for Spanish Silver in 2015, finding only this one piece.

That's a nice silver. I only found one Spanish silver (1737 one reale) around my area so far. I know there is some to be found fairly close by if I could get some time to go just a little farther away from my home than usual!

That's a heck of a plate! I don't have the chance to find Civil War stuff up here, but the Indian Wars era finds are just as cool to me. Hopefully I can find a plate like that to go with my hat badge.

Really nice find Showtime

Killer piece Steve! I love Spanish to start with....but to find one that was converted is really cool and unique. Then to have one that went back into circulation is even cooler. To me it tells a real story. Somebody had enough money to turn a silver coin into a Cufflink. What changed to cause them to put that back into circulation? Just another md mystery my friend
