ETRAC coil choice

Whatever coil you choose, think about getting an extra lower shaft for the coil - makes swapping coils a whole lot easier.

I do not swing a minelab, but I believe "the smaller the coil the better" for use in trashy areas.

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a new coil for my Etrac for trashy fields and i have the choice btw ;

- Detech WSS 10x5"
- Detech SEF 8x6"
- Coiltek 10x5" Treasureseeker

What is for you the best choice ? For the 10x5 anyone tested the Coiltek and the WSS ?

Thank's to all :)

The 6" Coiltek separates great in trash and is deep for a small coil.

The 6 inch CoilTek is great in trash and does get some depth too, esp when you run in auto sensitive.

Don't forget the King of Depth and Separation the CoilTek 12 x 8 !!!!!

Why it is my favorite coil !

a few reasons coil is fav.jpg

Coil was formerly called the Platypus, now its just called the 12 x 8 Treasureseeker.

Picture of new and old my old one had wire failure.

Some finds with the new one was my only gold ring so far this year.

So now you know the rest of the story :headbang:

Thank's to all for answers :)... The problem in france , il very hard find a Coiltek , only 1 seller (not have really stock) and very very expensive prices :(

And the weight is the problem of coiltek coils :(

Yes the King Coil is a "Battle Ship" but worth its weight, I vehemently dislike the stock lightweight coil.

You might also look into the Stealth X-5 and X-8 coils depending on how trashy your site is. I use the old non-waterproof 5 X 10 Coiltek Joey and am very happy with it for trashy sites while in 2 tone ferrous. I haven't tried the Detech coils.

Hi,

For information, i need a coil for low trashy fields and cluttered forest (to switch between the bushes)

I have see the Stealth coils, they are probably good , the problem is : the importation customs ^^ And they are not available in europe

How about one of the NEL coils? Maybe a Sharpshooter? They're made in the Ukraine.

My friend tested the Nel coils on Etrac ( Sharpshooter and Snake ) They are not very good in depth and unstable with more than 23 Sensivity ...

The 12x8 weighs as much as the 15" WOT. both are way too heavy for the poor ergonomics of the Etrac S shaft IMO.
The solid design of the Sunray X-8 coil would be ideal for the type hunting you mentioned. It was the favorite coil I used while I had an Etrac.

Detech 4.5x7" DD EXcelerator Search Coil!! Amazing coil for the trashy areas!! Will NEVER part with mine!! :love4:

I'm back ! I have speaked with official french seller and he convinced me to choose coiltek .. !

I have choice Btw 10x5" and the 12x8" :)

What coil have the best depth ?

Tank's to all

Regards

The 10x5 have the same depth than the stock coil? And the 12x8 have better than stock ??

I would think neither one would be any deeper than the stock 11"

Neither are as deep but weigh twice as much

Only coils needed for the etrac are the Standard Pro coil, The Detech 4.5x 7 and the Ultimate 13"
These will cover it all.
