In areas that are covered in boulders and rocks of all sizes, and where building a monumented trail might be confused with natural topography, were treasure signs also created with white lead paint (invented over 2000 years ago) and would the Spaniards or others in the American Southwest, etch stone with acid or other chemicals to create a contrasting color (tan vs black parent material) to make highly visible attention grabbers or long range eye catchers?
