I found myself out of state this week and decided to take the "scenic route" home in order to do a little CRHing, and I'm glad I did. I've had some good finds here and there, but I doubt that I will ever top this one.

- I had picked up $730 in handrolled halves from my next to last stop of the day. That particular bank closed at 4:00 pm and I barely made it. The rolls were bagged and ready to be shipped off. Sitting on my living room floor I began opening them. For whatever reason, I like to open the "good stuff" last. When I open CWRs, I always open the roll and peek at the first coin. On the rare occasion that silver is showing, I close it back up and save it for last. The first 4 rolls were all clad. The 5th roll had a 40%er showing. I peeked at the bottom coin and it was a 40%er as well. Being a potential solid silver roll, I closed it up and put it aside. The next roll was the same exact thing. Next roll, same thing. Next roll had a Walker reverse showing. The following roll had another Walker. Now I'm getting really, really excited! When all was said and done, those 73 rolls had given me 19 rolls of clad. The remaining rolls were in my "save for last pile." An unbelievable 50 rolls had silver Kennedy's on the ends. 3 had Walkers and 1 had a Franklin. I just kinda sat there in disbelief for a bit staring at the rolls. I started with the Kennedy's. All 50 rolls were solid 40%ers, except for one. That roll contained 19 40% and 1 1964. One roll even had 22 coins, all 40%. I opened the roll with the Franklin showing next and was almost a little disappointed when "only" 11 mixed Walkers and Franklins spilled out along with 9 clad. The other 3 rolls were all solid silver with mixed Bens and Walkers. 53 solid silver rolls.

Even though I'm looking at the coins as I type this, I still can't believe it. My other stops produced a few silvers here and there. Total take for the day:

40% - 1036
1964 - 3
Bens - 32
Walkers - 39

The obvious question (but I'm certainly not complaining) is where were the 1964 Kennedy's? After thinking about it, I have a theory. The Walkers and Bens were in different brand rolls than the 40%ers. I think they came from a different collection than the 40%. Whomever obtained the Kennedy's cashed in all the 40% not knowing they were silver, and kept all the 90% - other than the 1 they missed that was mixed into one of the rolls. The Bens and Walkers came from someone else.

I have to change my shorts again. Truly amazing. Congratulations!

I don't think that I could keep on CRH'ing after a score like that. Everything after would feel like a small find :laughing9:

Now that's a silver score, and a very well deserved one I might add. :icon_thumleft:

I'm glad you didn't stop hunting when the finds were few and far between.

That has got to be one of the largest scores I've ever seen here. If that's not inspiration for a roadtrip, nothing is! A huge congrats! You'll be on a silver high for days! :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I cant even be jealous about this because I can only imagine that you just had the coolest day of your life :headbang: These "Mother Load" finds are what makes this forum of CRHers so awesome. Whether you find 1 silver in a day (which was my day today) or 7K worth of silver, this hobby is always exciting. If what you say is true, and you give us some pictures to back it up, I will be the first to vote for your shot at being in the BANNER :headbang: The last time I voted for someone to have a banner shot, was when MountainMan had almost this same experience with a box of halves a while back.

Congratulations and HH,
JJ

I am the same way when I open rolls, I often wondered if I was the only one who did that. If I have an ender,I will always set that roll aside, and I'll even set the rolls that appear to be older looking wrappers aside to. I'm a save the best for last type of guy. That is an incredible score. Can u post pics? I think we'd all really like to see this massive stash.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

I have a digital camera that I've had for years, but its never been out of the box. Apparently, I put it someplace where I would know right where it was if needed, since I can't find the dang thing. Just as soon as I do I'll try to get some pics posted.

Great find! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft: - This one will likely be the tops for the year. This find is in the top five finds that I can remember here ever.

Arkie,
My hat is off to you. What a spectacular find....and it couldn't have happened to a better
guy. Wow! I have never seen a larger score on this forum. I know one friend in my area
that scored 37 rolls of all Walkers a few years ago. In 2008, before I knew of this forum,
I scored 23 rolls of all Walker's and Ben's. Your score tops this by a lot. It's hard to believe,
but....as I always say on this forum....."It's out there!". Once again, great find and I'm so
happy for ya! Way to go. Can't wait for the photos.
All the best,
rileyboy

Wow!!!!

It couldn't have happened to a better guy!!!!

I am a bit envious though. My bank 'forgot' to order my two boxes this week, so I got $550 in dimes from two other banks. I still am amazed that I found 6 silver Roosies...and later, a single Ben out of a teller tray.

I was so thankful for my silver finds...I'd be blown away to find that much silver.

Congrats!!!!

The ULTIMATE beating the clock story :hello2:. I've found myself at around 4:55 PM more often than not running to some bank trying to hit it before 5.

Congratulations. You've shared a lot of information here, so I am happy that it happened to you and not someone that belligerent and spiteful

Pics!
