I go to many estate sales and yes, I like rocks, so I bought an egg full of them, :laughing7:. But great rocks they are!
I would imagine someone's momentos from visiting to these sites.
For $1 I saved them from the trash probably. The rocks were free with the egg.

A few that weren't labeled.

Anyway, thanks for looking.

So...am I seeing rocks, or pieces of rock that came from King Tuts tomb, Egyptian pyramids and the Olympic stadium!?...If so, that is surely an awesome save! The egg is awesome, I would've bought that for a dollar, but the rocks put that find over the top. Congrats, Diggummup...great find. Ddf.

I believe you are looking at rocks that have been collected at the various places labeled on them. Yes, King Tut's tomb is one of them.

No wonder those ancient buildings are mostly rubble. People have been dragging bits home forever! Bottom pic, top right looks like leopard jasper, though your stuff is mostly Mediterranean and I'm not sure leopard jasper is found there. Gary

That's kinda cool, I have some rocks I have kept solely because of where I was at the time, for example I have a rock that is volcanic mud in nature, nothing special, but I picked it up when I was in Alaska. I was fishing for salmon on a large creek, and it was lying in black sand on the shore of the creek, and was orange, so it stood out, and every time I look at it, I remember my trip! I also have a vial of ash that fell here in Montana from when Mt. St. Helens erupted. Rocks and minerals that in themselves are not that important, other than sentimentally for me!

I'm not sure what that rock is. Here is a close up or two...

I'm with you man. I'm the same way. I have rocks from many places I've been. I have rocks that old friends have given me as keepsakes because they know I like rocks. Not crystals and gemmy stuff, just regular oddball rocks. I can look at certain ones and it takes me back to another time and place. Good times and good memories.

What about that egg?
I bought an East Lake dresser once. There was a basket with some cool shells in a basket on top. The guy asked my wife if she would give $5 for the shells. She was eyeballing the basket they were in. "Is the basket included?" Sure he said.
The basket was from an Arizona tribe and worth about $150.
Do you know anything about the egg?

The egg seems to be a ceramic hobby mold type piece. Nothing special.

You saved someones memories and got a nice collection. I like to refer to stones like that as "touch stones". As said in this thread they bring back memories for the holder. Most of my touch stones will likely end up in the back yard after I pass so I enjoy them while I can ;)
