EE's looking for a cornicopia of silver in November.

So.. 5 boxes due this week but that is not the big news.

Big news is, I purchased a collection yesterday, I should receive it sometime middle of next week so I didnt add it to Octobers totals.

I have a friend in So Cal who is out of remission with her cancer and she is nearly broke. I told her to take her grandfathers coin collection to some coin shops and see what they offer her. Well, one offered her $210 and another offered her $250. Way, way too low for what she has. I purchased her collection for the maximum I could possibly spend without putting myself in the danger zone ( not going to link to the top gun song, not going to do it ). I offered her $675 shipped for it and if she has anything that is worth more than melt, I will get her top dollar for it and send her the cash that I get. I am not sure if she has anything of value, she has too much to sort while being sick with cancer and fibromyalgia.

I am not sure exactly everything I will be getting as she might find more she said but this is an approx

175 dimes, merc and rosies
1 quarter ( likely Washington )
20 - 1964 halves
2 - 40% Halves
10 - Peace and Morgan dollars combined, one being a 1879 ( just received Email from her ).
3 - Indian head pennies

I know my offer is still low, its about 76% of melt but its the best I could do and it gets her money tomorrow as she was down to her last $25 combined between purse and checking account. I do hope some of the coins demand a premium so I can get her some more money.

On a side note, on my pick up today, I managed to make another contact with a teller whos husband is dying of cancer. They found his childhood coin collection so I am to take a look at that sometime soon to make an offer on that as well, sadly I am tapped out of cash so either I might have to borrow from one of the parents to take out a personal loan at the bank to purchase the collection which I can pay off come tax time. I always do my taxes ASAP, no reason to wait so interest on the loan will be minimal if I need one.

Dude I love your posts and wish I had your dedication to saving/investing in precious metals. Where do u get the money to buy all that auction stuff? I also really like foreign silver coins - especially if you can buy them at/below spot. I just started a foreign 20th century type set with some cool Canadian coins.

One of these days someone will find you dead in your home with $7 million worth of hold/silver, just like that guy in Reno.

Keep up the hard work!!

Well, first and foremost, I make $10 an hour and I work 39 hours a week right now. Usually I work 55 hours a week but its winter, its slow, Obama just got re-elected and its slowed down business. The key is to work every hour of overtime they ask you to work too. Why pass up the extra cash that you could easily invest and make more out of?

How do I do it? I dont have a cable TV bill, I watch all my TV online, that saves me about $50 a month right there. I drive a fuel efficient car, I get 32 mpg. I dont drink alcohol, I dont smoke ciggs, I dont party. I dont run the AC to 64 degrees in the summer. I wear a little extra clothing in the winter and keep the heater down to save some cash. Every spare penny goes into my stash at the moment. At work I collect all the soda cans from everyone and use that to buy free silver. It doesnt amount to much, maybe $10 every 3 months but its free so that works. If this detector pays off that would be nice. I dont see how it cant, just 1 heavy gold ring and my expenses will be covered.

Now if only I could get that $3,000+ worth of performance car parts in my family room sold from when I used to drag race ( back when I made $60,000 a year ) that would help out a ton.

On the side I make sinkers and fishing lures and sell those as well, when I get orders which isnt too often. Sinkers dont pay much, one each of a 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 oz bank sinker will net me a total of $2.25. In lead I have about 56 cents into all 5 sinkers and about 20 seconds of my time. If I get a large order, I could make some good money but that rarely happens.

2 War Nickels captured from my small lot of nickels this week, 43 P and 45 P.

Got the 12k pin checked out, its plated.. oh well, only $3, I still made out on the 14k necklace.

Picked up some more foreign Silver. Paid spot for it. Some neat looking coins, I figure I would start cleaning out some of the stuff they have here and there because its neat to look at.

Going to hit a bank to the east on Friday, they have lots of CWR's, well, that depends on if this guy gets back to me on a Garrett 250, Garret pin pointer and other goodies for $250 off Craigslist. If he gets back to me then I wont have the spare cash for all the CWR's. I will only have the cash for my normal run afterwords but the 250 will be well worth the money.

Post a picture of the sen, so that I can tell you the exact date (I have a key for Japanese numbers, but it's more complicated than just reading numbers on the coin).

Ok, here you go. I have a friend fluent in Japanese but I had not contacted him yet.

And some other world coins just because they are different.

The person actually mislabeled the coin. It is from 1937. However, the silver amount is still the same. It is year 12 of Hirohito, which is almost identical to the Yoshihito coins (1922-1926), except for one character.

Going through my final $50 bag of pennies and pulled a 1999 wide A M. in maybe high fine condition. Aint a lottery ticket but it will bring in some cheap silver to the stash.

Thank you Sag, I will put the coin in a new holder with the correct date.

So.. did a black friday run. Not the best run in the world but it did me good none the less.

Grabbed my first 3 boxes of halves and 1 CW roll of quarters.

Box 1: 1/40%
Box 2: 1/40%
Box 3: Skunked

CW Quarter roll: 1/Washington

Dumped and grabbed 3 more boxes at another bank

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked

Met up with the guy from Craigslist, picked up my new Garret 250

Hit up a bank I am a member of and dumped half the Halves

On the way to the other somewhat nearby dump bank I decided to hit a UMB to see if they had any halves to get rid of. They sold me the bag off their machine. Only $104 worth of halves but I did pull two Franklins from it

Went to my next dump bank, dumped the remainder of the $1500 in halves plus the extra $103 from UMB and grabbed $200 in dimes from them. Skunked

Went to the bank that I scored the 4 solid rolls of Mercs from earlier this year.

38 rolls of CWR Nickles: Skunked
50 rolls of CWR Dimes : 1/Rosie
8 rolls of CWR Quarters: Skunked
4 rolls of CWR Halves: Skunked

Tomorrow I will dump all this change and pick up some dimes and nickels from my local dump bank. Sadly, I will have nothing to dump with them so I will be just doing a pick up.

7 boxes of halves left for the month, it has not been a good month what so ever when it comes to CRH.

I enjoyed reading your posts. What part of the country are you in? You better eat a lot of carrots, your eyes are going to need it looking thru all that coinage! Very interesting read. Thanks.

Did ya get anything fishing? nice work chugging' away on the precious metals!

Not yet. Thursday was too windy, yesterday was too cold, today will be too cold for my liking. I am going to head to my sisters, hit up a couple banks up there looking for halves, hit the antique store where I picked up that 2 Shilling coin and the rope bracelet and see if I can get any more scores with silver going up and than start with my new detector on her property. She owns a house built in the mid/late 1800's. They have stumbled on sterling jewelry before on the property just sticking out of the ground.

Fishing will be Sunday, 56 degrees with 7mph wind. Will be a near perfect day as long as I can catch bait. Ill be headed out first light and be back right before dark. Boat is charged, car will be loaded tonight so all I have to do is backup and leave.

Nice Eclipse.That a turbo car?

Yeah, 1997 GSX. At the time it had 1680cc injectors, GT3582r turbo, running about 550 hp. Best quarter mile run was 11.82 @ 130 on an easy launch. My Transmission was rated for 400 hp and I didnt want to break it. I also didnt have slicks so even on 6psi at launch I would spin through 1st, 2nd and sometimes on a cold day, into third. Most boost I ran was 37 psi.

I miss the car, she was parted out early this year so that I could pay off all my debt and start focusing on covering my retirement with precious metals.

yeah I dont blame ya,Unless your Name happens to be John Force,I doubt your racing could have paid for your returement. You made the right choice.

It hurt my retirement.

You see, I was planning on buying silver and gold back in 2004 when I started racing but a couple friends convinced me to do it, said I needed a way to distract myself after my fiance cheated on me with my best friend, someone I considered a brother. I purchased $2,000 worth of parts and had them on hand before I even had a car purchased. The day I got the car I was already tearing it apart and replacing parts. In the 5 years I raced it, I spent at least $30,000 on it. I was going through around $1,000 a month in just parts, that is not counting race fees and $10-$16 a gallon race gas. All in all I sold the car for $16,000 in parts and still have about $3,000-$5,000 worth of parts I just cant seem to get sold.

Imagine, $1,000 a month into $4 an ounce silver. Yeah.. that is about $6,800 a month worth of silver at todays prices.

I kick myself in the ass on a frequent basis but I still love that car, she was a sexy little whore.

So... I dumped my change and picked up $920 in dimes and $42 in nickels. I also got a handful of foreign coins, one being 100 L from the Vatican. Even got a looney.
