EE's December thread, silver bells are a ringing

And hopefully the continue. Went to a dump bank to get rid of some clad and one of the tellers said she had some SBA's and a roll of halves saved for me. The SBA's didnt amount to anything but I did get 2/0% out of the halves.

Tomorrow I have 6 boxes due, Saturday I be going to hit a couple banks to get some CWR's before I go out to get some practice detecting. Going to call to see if they have any bags for sale before hand.

i was looking forward to the new month. Can't wait to see what you haul in.

My week isnt over yet. I still have dimes and nickels to search, I also plan on doing some CWR's tomorrow on my way to do some detecting. I will total up everything tomorrow but todays finds include.

Box 1: 3/40%
Box 2: 1/40%
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: Skunked
Box 6: 14/40%

CW Quarters x3: Skunked
CW Dimes x7: 1 Rosie

Auction got me a 14k ring, weighing in at .0338 ozt for $32. About $58 worth of gold in the ring.

Tomorrow should hopefully pay out someway, somehow. Sunday is another auction, I am skipping the two auctions tomorrow to do some detecting on one of the few days left this year.

Homie, they never did, never will.

I find varieties with the SBA's every now and then and sell them and put the profits into silver. The tellers save them for me, I pick them all up and spend them at auctions, filling up the tank on the car etc.

Todays minor CRH'ing didnt amount to anything. Neither did the detecting, I managed a whopping 3 cents, two of which I have not checked to see if they are pre 82 yet. I did manage to hit a antique store and find some interesting items to purchase, too bad I grabbed my bank bag and forgot to throw my loupe and scale in it. I will go back next weekend.

$325 in Dimes : Skunked
$56 in nickels, 1 War, 1 1930 Buff and about 12 pre 60's.

I have decided to hit the small coin auction tomorrow. I will be limiting my spending to the point that I can buy and resell whatever I get and possibly keep a few things for myself for free when its said and done.

Auction didnt produce like I had hoped it would. I should have jumped on some items some more but I didnt want to tap myself out so early, just in case. Like five 2005 $5 gold coins going for $135 ea. I could have sold them and made a small profit at $155 ea but that would have ate up most of my funds in the first 10 minutes of the auction. I regret not doing it now.

Not fully sure what all I got, some items will need to be tested to see if they are in deed silver. I bought a lot of rings for $6.

Turq Long ring (0.0740)
Cannonball Ear ring (0.1758)
Cross Ring (0.0463)
Squiggly Toe Ring (0.0185)
Heart Shaped with no stone (0.0832)

There are at least 3 rings to get tested as I suspect they may be silver, two of which where made from dimes and dont appear to be made from clad. Some others I am not too sure of and maybe I can find a buyer for the class ring I picked up. One ring was also made from a penny.

I managed to snag a 10k gold ring for $15 and I estimate the gold value to be $35, that is factoring out the weight of the stone at .01 ozt which I know it sure as hell doesn't weigh.

I also picked up a 71,72 and 74 - 40% Ike dollars, six 40% Kennedy halves at $4 ea and a standing Lib quarter no date for $4.75

Over all I made 31% Profit which aint bad.

wow, I'd take gold 1/10s for a buck and change all day - bring more cash to the auctions, buck-o!

I really should have popped on them but I can only bring what I can bring. I would have resold them to the coin shop and purchased free silver with the profits but so early on, it would have tied up 3/4ths of my funds had a won them at $775 for the set. I wish I had more play with.

I will gladly take rings and such at the prices I am currently paying, much better profit margin for me.

Both rings made of dimes turned out to be silver.

Both of todays boxes were skunks.

Friday I have 5 boxes and 1 auction and the auction has a ton of silver jewelry so I might come home loaded.

On a side note, all my tellers loved the chocolates for Xmas.

Went to the Friday auction and skunked out there as well. Some lady who buys all klinds of stupid stuff at stupid prices bought all I was after for well over spot. I think she is a hoarder.

Went to the two Saturday auctions and nothing was there.

Going to set up one bank to hold some CRW halves for me for Saturday to pick up. Trying to get $500 off them if at all possible.

Didnt get the halves from the CWR bank, going to try that Monday instead.

So.. go to pick up bank #1 and get my 3 boxes of halves and some CWR's

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked

2 Rolls of CWR Dimes: Skunked
7 Rolls of CWR Nickels: Skunked
5 Rolls of CWR Quarters: Skunked

Pick up bank 2

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: 5/40% - 2/1964

At least I got something, sadly all those came in the last 10 rolls of the box. Hope to continue the trend into the next 7 due next week.

Went to the local auction, they had some coins there. Managed to get a single 40% half for $2.75 out of all the coins. Also purchased a ugly sterling ring for a quarter.

I did see a nice little babies juice cup so I waited around for another 2 hours. Finally, around 9:30pm ( I got there at 7pm ) they get to my table with my cup I want. They grab random items and auction them off and then decide it would go quicker if they went choice item off the table. I start the bid off at $1, it goes up the $5, I bid $6 and win the bid, I grab the small cup. One lady next to me asks, is that all you are getting for $6? I reply, its all I want. The cup weighed out at 2.22 ozt

Dumped all my halves today and picked up some dimes and nickels.

51 rolls of CWR Nickels : 1 Dateless Buff
168 Rolls of CWR Dimes : 2 Mercs

I got a whopping $50 bonus I will be using at the coin shop to buy me some extra goodness but hey, work is paying for it so its all good.

Might have another bank I will get bags from next Saturday and dump off to get another banks bags to dump to try to hit the magical $200,000 searched in a year mark. Soooo damned close.
I would like to finish out the month above 280 and would be over joyed to get above 300 oz.

Hit up the bank with the CWR's and they gave me less than I had hoped, still, got a single 40% so its better than nothing, 4 more rolls and per average I should have got another. Purchased 15 dimes and a 5 grain 24k bar with my Xmas bonus from work.

Went to pick up my 2 boxes of halves today. Sadly, they didnt get ordered, the vault teller was on vacation and her sub didnt get her job done. I have 4 boxes due in 2 weeks to cover the missed batch, going to be hard to dump the extra boxes but I think I can manage.

Went to the store to pick up some food for lunch at work. Stopped at the branch in the store, picked up $100 in CW halves.. skunked.

Totals for Friday.

8 Rolls of CW Halves: Skunked
1 roll of CW Quarters : Skunked
1 roll of CW Nickels : Skunked

5 boxes of halves.

Box 1: 1/40% - 1/1964 - 1/Franklin

Box 3: 2/40% - 1/Franklin

I will update the totals for the month on Monday, when I am done with my final run of 2012.

Tomorrow I dump $1,000 in halves and pick up dimes and nickels.

I hit an auction to see if they have anything worth staying for, if not I have a route of 7 banks to hit and a antique store to go to.

Monday I have another route to hit which should take me along to 25 banks. I have called ahead to some of them already and need to call a few more to confirm they have anything worth while before I go. I have some that have $100 here and $200 there. One bank I hit not long ago, about a month or so had $100 and I got 2 bens from it. Well, I called them today and they have $520 in the coin machine and more in tellers drawers so I will be getting all of those. Looks like at least $800 in halves for Monday and whatever other dimes etc I can grab up and dump. Hopefully I can do a majority of the banks.

I want to hit $200,000 searched by years end, I am about $3,300 away from doing it.

Made a short run, hit an antqiue store and was about 5 minutes late to a estate garage sale only to be sniped by my own mother.

So, hit a couple banks looking for some CWR's.

20 dimes: Skunked
7 Quarters: Skunked
10 Nickels: Skunked
17 Halves : Skunked
1 String Half: Skunked

Hit the antque store, nothing really there. Looked through their foreign coins, picked up a Canadian toonie ( $2 ) for 15 cents. Got caught up talking to two people there who know my sister, brother in law, nephew and neice and I just could not get them to shut up so I could leave. Finally I get my chance to get out without looking rude so I can get to the garage sale before it starts.

I get to the garage sale, 5 minutes after it starts and who do I see there, my mom. She has a big smile on her face.. find out she got a crap load of sterling. I would say about 3 ounces worth for $7. There when my year end blow out but at least it went to someone who could really use it.... I should never have told her what to look for :D

Monday is my last run of 2012, hope it pays off because today was pretty asstastic. Hopefully the fish bite tomorrow.

Well, the year ended with a whimper. Most of the banks that said they had halves didnt and some of those that did, would not sell to me because I am not a customer. It was a snowy day and I saw one truck do a 180, spin off the road and land on its side. I pulled over, climbed onto the side, helped pull the mom and daughter out, jumped down and helped them off the truck. Both were shaken but uninjured. At least one of the banks that has produced in the past produced again, even if they didnt have the $520 in halves they said they would have but only $9 worth. At least those 9 produces two 40%, a 1964 and a Ben, the 3rd from them this month. I gave them my number to call me when their dime and quarter bags fill and that I would pick up any halves they have at the same time.

13 rolls of CW Nickels - 1/War
104 rolls of CW Dimes - 1/Rosie
70 rolls of MW Dimes - Skunked
10 Rolls of CW Halves - 4/40% - 1/1964 - 1/Ben

I also managed 61 Ike Dollars during my run. I plan on putting them up for auction a little at a time, they have been going for $2-$3 ea at auction around here so I am planning on making some extra cash with them.
