The Cru'team does it again! Yesterday Cru'Dad suggested his plan A & I suggested mine, so in the end we did both in one day.
The first 3 hours of the day we went with Cru'Dads plan of covering a small low yield Roman Site, & then onto a nearby area where we had a few Saxon Brooches. I thought this a good idea as the Roman site had only been covered once & I wanted to try a new deep program on the nearby Saxon area. The conditions where not great & the 4 inch turn had just been left, so we only managed 4 scrappies & the Saxon area was a bust. Picture No.1. (2 good buttons, 1 mid-19th C Royal Artillery Mess Dress Button - I Need)

After lunch we went to an area I wanted to grid, its been on my mine for awhile but it was a high risk gamble, we had only really found 1 hammered in the past, but I thought with a 1/2 day we should get the 1 hammered I was hoping for. I never thought our 2.5 hour grid would turn up so many good finds;

1943 Sixpence
1797 Penny
Lead Token
Rose Farthing
Early English Jetton - Type I've never seen!
My first Medieval Iron Arrow Head
Broken late/post medieval Sword Belt Hook
Nice early 13th-14th C Buckle with biting beasts - A first!
Cut Short-cross hammered
Charles I Halfgroat
Edward the Confessor Penny 1059-62 โ€‹-
Moneyer - Godwine
Mint - Huntingdon

Awesome recoveries. I particularly like the imagery on the Edward the Confessor penny, appropriate for my time lately spent binge watching Vikings on the History Channel!

Other than its bent a little, its in great condition. Its one of the few coins I had no idea who it was when I found it. It even took me awhile on the net to find it. Thats how rarely these things come up. I only have 2 others of him but one is a cut qrter & the other a cut half slightly folded. So this is the first complete one I have of this type.

I didnโ€™t realize this was your first complete example. Congrats on that!

And it is a great feeling to pick something up and be puzzled

First complete coin of this King but also the first of its type all together.

Awesome! Hard to believe you don't have the whole Royal family tree in your collection by now. You really need to get out and detect more. :laughing7:

I am trying.

I got more excited with this one than I should of because I thought it might be a gap in the family.
