I have had similar luck in those type of spots too. Nice old finds!

Yes thats true, most THers you see go right to the middel of the feild, myself i like the tree lines...:occasion14:

Most of my coin collection has come from a public park that was once a hotel dating back to the turn of the century. The edges have been kind to me also. The aerial photos at pennpilot helped me find areas that were once open. If we all thought alike we'd never find anything!

Same park same edge 15 minutes in found my oldest wheat 1925 then cut my finger on a broken shot glass no first aid kit had to go home

Pretty shot glass if it wasn't broke.goes to show sometimes it's Rosie's sometimes it's wheats.

I always wear gloves, never know whats buried ( especially in a park).

Im a little curious on that V nickel, was it shallow ? or deep? was it buried in a plastic bag? lol

Nice loot and don't feel bad about the nickels. Not all change color in the ground.HH

What a great tip and nice silver. One of the best finds my husband and I found was a pretty Schenkel shell fuze solely because I told him to swing the detector under a bush.

I used the same technique at a worked out park today! Silver coins #44 and #45 for 2013 File167.jpg

I was on a bike ride a few weeks ago in upper PA. Pulled into a pizza/beer joint and found $40 at the edge of my parking spot. I like edges too.
