I have a few good items ( higher $ items) to list and wanted to start this sunday for a 7 day auction.. Would you hold off because Thanksgiving is next week? Or since a lot of people have smartphones it wont matter to list thru next week. I don't ship international. Just wanted to get a few opinions.
Thanks

Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally the best weekend of the year for brick-and-mortar retailers. I presume the same is true of online sellers. If that is true (and I have no data to support an argument in either direction), then Thanksgiving weekend would be the best time to have an auction end. FWIW, it seems like our ebay sales have been picking up a little bit recently.

Years ago it was a bad idea to list over a holiday, but now I don't think it matters. It's more just how the random nature of ebay works out fro you that day.

Thanks I didn't think of how well the brick and mortar places do. I was just worried about the people traveling visiting family not being home.

I've noticed 10 years ago that there were fewer bidders on holidays and I would bid on high value items on auctions that ended on the holiday. It might be different now and snipers are out there. You could list the items and make a judgement call to cancel the auction by the number of views and watchers you have.

Isn't the Monday after Thangsgiving considered Cyber Monday and supposed to be one of the biggest online sales days of the year? I plan on listing a lot on Sun and Mon (especially since there is free listings for me!)

This morning, I have been trying to find anything worth listing as an action so I can get it to end on Thanksgiving night.

I think some people are at home, or stuck at their Aunt Judy's house, and get on ebay to look for stuff they want.

But then again, I often believe that auctions involve luck...and lots of it.

This week I've had 4 auctions end with no bidders. Now for the last month I've sold everything I've posted. Now my final 2 auctions I finally got a bid today on each but I think that's because of people being off and getting antsy for the weekend. I'm waiting till Sunday to post anymore, 1. I'm out of auctions, 2. It'll be a week and new paycheck when they start getting close to ending. Good luck

I listed about 5 items, all to run through this week ending Monday or Tuesday. I will see how it goes.

I found out it does not matter if you list on a a normal week or a holiday week ... It all sells the same for me...... Good.....I will be listing thanksgiving day .. and also tonight......

I tend to do the same thing every week so should have a good sense if the holiday makes a difference.
