It looks like it could be a small reduction flake from the process of knapping stone. "Debris"
 

I also found these right next to it, but they're different material.

A site like a shelter could have been used over and over for hundreds even thousands of years.. there is bound to be many types of stone debris at a place like that.
The pieces in the second photo also have evidence of flaking.. Sometimes you find the pieces that were flaked off in the process of reduction to make something else... sometimes you find pieces left over after pieces were removed from it ....they are called cores... If you spend enough time searching that area I'm sure you will find a tool of some sort
