Early tavern site

This was found at a early 1700s tavern also had rev war activity GW used it as temp headquarters and soldiers camped here / nearby I found it about a foot deep I thought it might be a rossette but someone I know doesn’t think it is . Not sure what it’s made of (lead?) it has some weight but not that heavy it has dots inside the star which I enlarged also can’t find a ruler or tape measure at the moment so I will post a comparison to a toothpick on the backside are a circular bunch of pointed nubs

I can only speculate. It is interesting and looks maybe to be at least a hundred years old imo.

Maybe a concho off a saddle or other piece of leather horse tack.

I'm thinking this is a horse halter rosette... a brass face with a lead backing.

Very nice find, probably dating to the late-19thc.

It looks small in the pic but the star is about 1 3/4 inches. Sorry I didn't have a toothpick handy.

That is a cool looking find. Congrat's. I sort of lean towards a rosette also. Nice looking relic.
