Hope someone chimes in soon, not really a crockery person but that's an interesting piece. Any markings of any sort on the bottom that might help identify or at least date it?

hate to those busted up. I feel like it's a 3 gallon "bee sting" crock, or could be a two. Sometimes they work the size into the swirls and keep on swirling. Some call them tornado crocks. It would be real tough to put an exact origin on it without a makers stamp. Pretty sure it's mid Western, Ohio valley though. Find the well or privy nearby and dig, you may find some intact pieces. Good work on what you've saved. maybe the rest of the pieces will show up to whole it up.
