Got out for a hour this afternoon in the blazing hot sun and was rewarded for my efforts! Early French silver knee buckle...dates from 1660-1720! Found it in two pieces in the hole. Found the chape first and was happy with that and about to fill in the hole when I gave it a final swing and got another high tone and pulled out the frame!

Great research on it's background history too. It should be cooling down a bit here by Sunday.

Nice early buckle, pretty sure its not solid silver though.
Why French? (we find these, wasn't aware they were imported)
