Went to an amazing island today that has lots of incredible history. If ever I'm going to find my tree coin this could be the place. Today was more of a scouting trip that a real hunt and I didn't expect much but had a decent day when it was all said and done. Incredibly beautiful stone walls like I've never seen before. About 100 acres so this one will take some time. I am VERY excited about this place

This lat item is holed and looks like it hung from a necklace. The outer rim has letters on it and seems to be copper. The center almost looks like slate but is rusted like iron. It rang up like a copper coin. I have no idea. Can make out a few letters and am hoping it will clean up better cause I'm very curious. I will post some better pics if I can get it cleaned up a bit

Thanks buddy. Def similar. Think I can get an id tomorrow

Sounds like a great site. I love finding places like that. It's exciting not knowing what could be found next. Glad to hear its going good and your getting out. Ill be waiting for the next post.
Yeah this is gonna be a fun one! I know it was occupied in 1670 and it had occupation in the 18th century so who knows

Sounds like you have a very interesting site to hunt Abe. Those first few finds should be a harbinger of what's waiting for you on the next hunt. BTW - I like that whole Georgian shoe buckle. Its similar to ones we've dug down this way. I think I found close to an exact match in my buckle reference book (Buckles 1250-1800 by Whitehead). Check out #684 in the upper right and see how that matches up to yours. Love the other finds too.

Thanks Bill! That is very very close. Only difference that I see is on the long sides mine has diamond shaped metal in between the slots. It looks like the example in Whitehead doesn't but it's obviously made in that same style and I appreciate the info. My 3rd shoe buckle and much different from the others.
This site is stunningly beautiful and I have a feeling there's some nice early stuff out there. Think the IH was a drop long after everybody had left that island from the research I've done. Other cool part is that you can only be out there after August 1 so there's zero litter which is awesome to see. It was occupied in 1670 so it could have some very early stuff. I spent most of the day searching for where they might have docked the boats. This place is massive
You'll be back in the dirt soon right bud? Looking forward to your amazing colonial finds

It probably won't be until Oct that I can get back out in the fields. Been a long, boring summer but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Can't wait!

That's a nice buckle and a really nice Indian, especially for an 1866!

Thanks Don I'm surprised how well these ocean island coins came out? It's great because I plan on hitting quite a few islands and figured the salt content would destroy the coppers. Maybe the sandy soil drains well enough, but I was very surprised at how well the came out.

Ahab, if you found all that and weren't really looking just imagine what you're going to find once you start gridding that place off. I'm excited to see what find you uncover in the future. What a wonderful site.

Congrats, Abe. From what little info I found on blowhole buttons, you must be on a very early site!

Nice finds! Love the shoe buckle & hope you can find out what campaign the disc is from.

Bill I just noticed that #685 has the little diamonds between the slots. So it seems to be a bit of a hybrid between the two

Yeah this is certainly an exciting start to a huge site with great history. It's pretty easy hunting as well...perfect storm

Thank OD! The button is certainly early and one you don't often see. Def a good sign

Thanks buddy I'm working on the campaign piece as we speak. Not sure there's much hope but we shall see

Ok my super smart Tnet friends. Here is the possible campaign piece. Some letters are starting to show thru. I see a Ton by the hole and a few other scattered letters randomly. Thanks for the help
