Went to an amazing island today that has lots of incredible history. If ever I'm going to find my tree coin this could be the place. Today was more of a scouting trip that a real hunt and I didn't expect much but had a decent day when it was all said and done. Incredibly beautiful stone walls like I've never seen before. About 100 acres so this one will take some time. I am VERY excited about this place

This lat item is holed and looks like it hung from a necklace. The outer rim has letters on it and seems to be copper. The center almost looks like slate but is rusted like iron. It rang up like a copper coin. I have no idea. Can make out a few letters and am hoping it will clean up better cause I'm very curious. I will post some better pics if I can get it cleaned up a bit

Wow that inner rim looks ver similar. I will get some pics that don't suck :-) I can see a couple letters and will see if the position matches any known campaign tokens. Thanks buddy

Awesome , hope this place pans out for you! Looks like it's off to a great start

Quite likely that's what it is. They get posted on here the odd time.

Well it has a TH that I can make out at 6 o'clock if the hole is at 12. Actually just a hair to the right of 6 o'clock. So it can't be either of those

I think IP has the correct ID. Nice job IP. Sweet buckle and a nice semi-key date Indian head. I found the same year IH last year. Yours looks to be in great condition. Congrats!

Wow! Beautiful finds for a first hunt Abe! :occasion14:
I think that sites going to prove very productive for you, especially if this hunt is a reflection of finds yet to come!

Thanks Evo. Seems like the older the ih I find the better the condition.... Strange. I love this shoe buckle, it's different than the two others I've found. And IP does not suck at the IDs :-) I hope I can get that thing shined up enough to id it.

Hey thanks Dave! I was surprised to make these finds as most of my time was spent exploring and trying to get the layof the land

looks like future fun and exciting times, good luck on the new spot

What about this one? And I guess you can't really count on the hole being at the 12 O'clock position.
Now that's got a chance. It looks like there is lettering around the entire thing. Any idea how I should clean the damn thing?

Tough one because it looks like a combination of pitting and rust, and not so much corrosion that will come off.

Yeah I agree! Don't think there's much hope for it. I may lose patience and try to bring some crap off to see a few letters. I'd like to at least know what it is. I think I will be able to make out enough letters to narrow it down at least. I will get some good pics up in the am. Thanks for your assistance....AGAIN :-)

Btw IP how old are the blow hole buttons? Late 18th century? Was hoping it was military by the shape but still a good indicator of age I suppose

More mid. 1700s. We dig them at our French sites which date 1730s to 1750s.

As you can see I grew back 7 brain cells since your last post. :)

You will prob lose 8 before this one is done :-)
So I think I can see Ton on the mystery piece. Obviously these weren't around during the Washington years but I wonder if the made commemorative pieces

Nice finds Abe...I found something similar. .Here is a pic..Hope it helps.
