Snuk out today for a quick afternoon hunt, weather honestly looked to nice not to! Halfway to location driving along I realized I had forgot my phone and said to myself "Ohwell" then just continued on.
A few miles later noticed dark clouds on the horizon towards destination I had in mind casting a thick white vail on the moutain tops and thought to myself again, this time thinking, "it will go around" just as a swift gust of wind picked up that was strong enough to noticeably push my car around.
I reached the end of the paved roads as the rain began to fall and could hear mud building up in the wheelwells and splating on the floorboards and doors as i drove along using up wiper fluid as if it were gas before realizing i still had my sun shades on..
Slowed, geared down and then said to myself "I think i can make it" noticing some new fairly deep ruts had formed, but trusting in the all wheel drive, I just SENT IT!
Made it past the ruts only bottoming out and almost getting stuck once as the rain lightened up and wind died down in time for me to quickly get geared up and swinging my coil for just long enough to dig one good sounding, but faintish, repeating target.
Dug a healthy portioned plug, knelt down, grabbed my pinpointer and picked up the back portion of a two piece button on top of plug so re-holstered pinpointer and stood up, though just as i went to kick plug back in had a feeling to give it another swing..
Knelt down once again to investigate a much better sounding target and spotted what looked like a laurel wreathed pendant laying right next to a plug chunk that had broken off.. Picked it up, noticed it was kinda heavy and below the very thick corosion/tarnishing and dirt thought i could see some detail in the form of an engraving, but had to toss it in the pouch and begin swinging back to car as the rain and wind had began to pick up with a vengance!
Made it home safe and sound with very muddy boots and detector, but with a surprizingly clean car.
Spent an hour or so cleaning pendant/fob with every non invasive cleaning technique i knew and was finally able to read inscription with a little help from my Dad who had just walked in the door and sat down next to the fire to warm up.
With a magnifying glass he was able to make out a first letter in name, after i had tried numerous online searches with no results, that gave a result! Hattie Gordon.
Believe pendant was made right around 1915? Weighs 17.7 grams is made of sterling silver and is about 1.5'' inches round.

Thank You! Yes that thought often crosses my mind when i recover personal items. Really enjoy researching and discovering the story and history behind these type of finds! amazing what you can learn from something that was treasured and was lost or maybe even just forgotten and tossed away.. Returning to the family would be 'icing on the cake' for the simple sake of giving a sense of posperity to them and possibly an item that would continue to be treasured. Cheers and Merry Christmas!:occasion14:

Hey! You forgot to tell us what the SLBA stood for!
The only SLBA i have been able to find so far is the Saskatchewen Lawn Bowlers Association and not sure yet if they were around during years pendant was made 1908-1923. Interesting fact though, in 1734 British troops had a small area within garrison grounds in Annapolis royal, Nova Scotia, Canada turned into a bowling green. And not to long after the invention of the first human pushed mower in 1830-32 the activity gained popularity among higher classes and Veterans. Then after the invention of first gas fuel powered Lawn mower around 1921 the sport exploded in popularity and was a popular pastime enjoyed by many clases of society in many countries.

I also found the "Shawnigan Lake Business Association" in BC, but no history to say how long they've been around.
