Eagle--From Flagpole??

I found this about 7" down in back yard of house built in 1943...I am guessing it is from a flagpole of some kind. Seems to be lead and very detailed in the carvings..too bad wings are broken.

Sounds like a good guess to me. Maybe the wings were broken off from a fall from the top of the pole? Nice find 8)
