What a great day I thought I was gona get skunked as usual at this pounded out site. This is the same site my avatar belt plate came from. I dug these all in one hole. Filled in the hole after the first one then rescanned. And got another signal only to repeat the process a third time the backmark on the readable on is one that was made from 1850 to 1865. I found these at one of my hunted out cellar holes. I put the wot coil on and hit woods around the site. There has to be more but I was out of time. I had to tear my self away to meet my wife. I never dug 3 of anything out of a single hole before. I wonder how they got all in one spot. Discarded coat hopefully.

Re: Eagle button spill!

nice find! imho it's likely the old owner lost his jacket and it rotted in to the ground leaving the buttons for you to find- it would figure that someone who was a tailor would have them in a jar and likely have mixed kinds, so logically it is likely it was someone's old jacket that got left behind... :icon_pirat:

it might be a good idea to hit that area again, when you have more time. (but i'm sure your going back there! right :) )

I will return asap. Problem is i was kinda lost in the woods when i got the hit. I marked the nearest tree so I can find the spot again. Amazingly these are the most modern relics from this site. Every generation of this family must have served in the military. Great Independence day weekend find if You ask me!

Re: Eagle button spill!

wow what a great find. hopefully its a jacket and there is more buttons/pocket contents to be found.

and be careful, it looks like that's poison ivy your digging under.

Man I would be thrilled to pull out a coin as a result of this. Does anyone know if CW jackets had pockets? :dontknow:

Umm, is that poison ivy in the pic with your lesche?
I think that is an elm sapling. I am impervious to poison ivy due to constant exposure as a kid. I Wade through it in shorts to pick berrys every year my friends think I am nuts but I never get it.

Re: Eagle button spill!

Wow way to go, I wonder if they were part of the same jacket at one time.

Re: Eagle button spill!

Fantastic ! Makes you wonder the story behind them.

Re: Eagle button spill!

Probably from a 4 button sack coat. Yes some of them had an inside pocket on the front.

Re: Eagle button spill!

I love finding multiple targets in one hole. Those are pretty General Service Eagles, congrats. :icon_thumleft:

Re: Eagle button spill!

nice buttons. here's to finding more :occasion14:

Re: Eagle button spill!

Excellent job on the buttons. Congrats.

Re: Eagle button spill!

Congrats on your buttons. It is great to find button spills. They are very hard to find.

Re: Eagle button spill!

Some Nice Eagles! Congrats
I got the same immunity, I don't even look at what I'm walking through

Re: Eagle button spill!

Tomorrow I am going back to search for the rest of the loot. I am stoked I never had the chance to search for the rest of anything. Now I know what it is like to first half of a 2 piece buckle. We just had a soaking rain so I am optimistic.
