✅ SOLVED Eagle buckle found at an 1830's home site.

Can anyone ID this eagle buckle?
Found at an 1830's home site about a foot from the stone pillar they tied horses too.
It's 3 1/8" x 2 1/8".

My fingers are crossed on this one.

VERY rare belt plate/buckle. Could not find anything like it on the net. Here’s one that’s close from I think like 1812 to 40’s or something from the site that tedyoh posted but needs more research. This is definitely something that you would want professionally cleaned especially at the price some of these early plates are going for.

I vote, Homerun! Great save and find on the Eagle plate. It looks to be in good condition too. It will look great in your display.....if not, my mailing address is....Lol Congrat's on a Great Historical piece.

I figured that plate would go for more than that. Someone got a good deal. If I found that plate, $700 would not touch it. JMO.

I voted banner as well because that is one heck of a find and I think it deserves a trip across the top. Good luck!

I personally would soak it overnight in plain water and then lightly brush it with a horse hair fine brush to see what crud came of naturally.

That plate did auction in June of 2010 almost 10 years ago and not another since. I tend to agree with you
