Eagle Buckle 1st ever ID!

Hello, I’m new to the forum !
I’m from Scotland so this is a very novel piece to me!

Not sure what this is made from, silver or a pewter.
If you can help with age, if it’s American! And what it would be used for,
That would be great,

Good morning from Toronto Vickie, welcome to Tnet! :hello:

This looks to be a vintage, silver plated, cast white metal (possibly pewter) strap buckle.
I don't see 'American' here though, possibly German or Russian. :icon_scratch:

The casting is very crude as well, so I don't feel this is military related.

I am gonna disagree as the eagle would be sitting on its side in that application.

No. You take the left end of the scarf and slide it through to the right, then the right side to the left.

I can't find an image of a scout wearing one but you get the idea with this picture:

This way the eagle is upright.
