Detector(s) used
Minelab Explorer E-Trac, Shadow X 5, Fisher 1266X.
Took my E-Trac across the street to a house yard that I have been searching wor the last three days. The second day I found a 1939 Mercury Dime at 1 inch. I knew that this yard had never been searched with a metal detector before. So Today I went to the back yard where the silver dime was found and walked back to that area. I started seaeching slow and at about 5 feet from the dime area I got a good medium tone on the E-Trac that was about 7 inches deep. After removing the plug, the signal was dead center of the hole. I dug around and pulled the loose dirt out. Checked the hole, no signal. Started checking the dirt pile and saw 3 Silver Walking Liberty Half's staring up at me. Now this was great, rescaned the remaining dirt with my X-1 probe and still had a signal. Moved the dirt around and saw 7 walker's stacked together. After removing all the coins. I filled in my hole, and went back across the street to show my Brother what I had found. This is my Second Sliver Coin Cashe in two years within 2 block of my house. Well, that is my story. HH...Jesse.

really nice cache! what are the dates on the Walkers? I see one that appears to be a 1938 but can't see for sure..If you have a 1938 is there a mint mark on the back of it?

WOW.........I'd be pounding that place hard. Maybe there's a burried treasure box from the great depression. I'd be so happy to find that many silver coins at once :icon_sunny:

Wow !That is a super find! Not only a bunch of Silver, but you invented a new date too! :tongue3: (7/48/09!)

Wow, and congrats! I have yet to find more than one sliver in a hole. That kind of find would get the blood a pumpin'. Keep up the good work and pics.

So were they hidden or lost :icon_scratch:

Those babies were hidden there...No fool would lose that amount. Maybe a big hole in the pocket though.. :tongue3: Nice digs...Get back there and cover every inch and dig the scratchy signals..Could be the decaying metal box! ;D jgas

That would get the blood pumping. Congrat :hello2:s

Thanks everyone, this old dog can still pull a rabbit out of a hat every once in a while. The first cashe was found two blocks up the street. It totaled 35 Silver Coins 31 Washington Silver quarters from 1936-1957, plus 4 Walking Liberty Halfs. I was run off by the construction crew after they saw what I was digging up. The funny thing about that is I had been searching ther with their permission for a solid week. And to answer another question. That one half was a 1928, not 1938. I will be back over there tomorrow. I could not go today because I had to take my Brother to Lexington, Ky to the V.A. Hospital for an appointment today, and we just got back home about 30 minutes ago. HH...Jesse.

Wow, what a great surprise. I'm surprised you dug and pulled up a bunch of dirt without noticing at least one of the 3 halves in your hands lol. Congrats on the cache and good luck there tomorrow.
