First cleaned item. Knife blade or something?

Hard to say, it’s got an agricultural kind of look to it. I’ll have to look around.

I’ve tried googling like “shirt knife blade” and can’t seem to find anything. One side of the “blade” is flat and one side is more curved? Not really curved, but it’s not flat. It’s notched like it would have fit into some sort of handle.

Definitely make sure the negative post is placed in a “cleaner” area, then the positive looks good. If you see some good bubbling action you’ll be good. Soon you’ll start getting the nasty froth on the top of the water

Hey question if you don’t mind....ok so all the rust and yuck gets removed from the relic and kind of attracts to the anode. Once that’s pretty yuck, I’ve noticed less bubbling. Tried scraping with a wire brush but still no good. Does that scrap piece just need to be replaced when it gets to that point?

If it’s to the point of the anode where you get no bubbling or very little you need to replace it. I’ve had to do it two to three times depending on how bad the item I was trying to clean was

But the first one, I have no more clean area besides what’s hanging out the jar to connect my positive to. Looks like we just need to stock up on my scrap stuff. Lots of stuff to clean lol

Yeah you’ll just have to find a item that doesn’t corrode as bad. I hated to use stainless spoons but it worked better for me

We’re just using a small steel bar. I’m currently looking at flashing to cover more surface area. Is galvanized steel or aluminum ok to use? That’s all I’m seeing at our hardware store.

Anything steel will work. Not sure on galvanized. I’ve used a old screwdriver, and just used my grinder with wire brush to clean off the old crud from using it during electrolysis

Ah ok. I think I’ll run to the hardware store at lunch and see what kind of cheap scrap stuff they may have. Looked around my house and shed thinking we’d have something but don’t lol
