Possibly a collar disk. 43rd Connecticut National Guard or Reserves? WWII? :dontknow:

At the following website, your US Army National Guard collar-insignia disc is a "Type 2" disc which dates from 1921 to 1937. Note that the emblem's background is a "checkerboard" with a tiny acorn in each of the squares. DC Matt is correct, your disc represents the 43rd Regiment, Connecticut National Guard. I've seen that little star base (back side) before on the inside of civil war bullets on Beau's videos, that star marks that the bullets were made at the Washington Arsenal. I dont know about any buttons or pins being made there but the experts can give you more.
