Could not believe my eyes! It’s a 1848-o 1 holed reale , can anyone tell me more about it? It has R.Z. 1848-O and 10 D.00G. maybe on the other side of the hole.

CoilyGirl,
Back in the day.....the fineness of silver was measured in the medieval system of 'dineros' and 'granos'.
12 dineros was pure silver. Each dinero was divided into 24 granos.
Your coin is marked 10Ds 20Gs or .9027777 fine.
Don....
Don that info is most helpful, thank you. Haven’t been here in awhile cause I ain’t found nothing( till now!)

Nice find Coily..

Nice one Nancy. I thought the hole was for wearing around the neck but a veteran VA hunter told me they would string the small coins like Reales & half dimes on a wire to prevent loss. See you & Steve Sat. HH, Q.

Beautiful coin! My only question is... WHERE IS MY REALE! WHY HAVE I NOT FOUND ONE!

Is it safe to assume your first reale? If so BIG CONGRATS! Very nice detailed holed coin. Absolutely STUNNING! I'd be happy as a pig in slop with that one! WOO HOO!:occasion18::hello2::headbang:

Awesome looking coin
Congrats

That’s what I had heard too. It would be interesting to know why there is Spanish silver in Tennessee. I wonder if any Tennesseans fought in the Mexican American war? Yep,see you Saturday for sure.

Congratulations CoilyGirl! You knocked it out of the park! Couldn’t happen to a better person
