I went out to a new site where an old house was at one time. Don't know anything about the place yet. However I found a folded piece of copper/brass maybe. Don't know. Anyway. I had no clue what it was. I got back to work and showed it to my Sup. he says it's a drivers license. I called BS on that. He pulled out his phone and sure enough there is the pic.
I never knew they were made like this. HH William. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424632840.827513.jpg

Yes you definitely have all info to track this person down especially if you can read all info on back side. Has birthdate and even license # etc. The problem is being an early date he is probably no longer with us, but his children no doubt are.

Gentilmen I'm truly sorry for misleading anyone on here. I just realized I didn't put the picture of the actual item I dug. It is a little more worse for the wear and I have to do some cleaning to figure out if I can find the owner. The previous pic is of the one my supervisor had of his grandmother. Again I am truly sorry. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424719358.264280.jpg

WilliamH its brass so it should straighten out and clean up ok

Great find! I have one that my uncle was issued to him back in the 40's, it was a commercial license and he told me you were supposed to pin it on your hat! It still has the pin and the old clutch back to hold it on with. I have seen several other examples in the OHP/Department of Public Safety collection at our training center in Oklahoma City. Apparently they were commonly made of metal during that time period, especially the commercial (nowadays CDL) licenses.
