Day three at what Im now calling the seated site. First long hunt started out slow but eventually got into some indians. Ended up with eleven. Mostly from the 1880's. Then I got a perfect silver dime signal and out popped a very nice 1883 seated dime. Went to lunch came back and my buddy got hist first seated dime. I dug a few eagle buttons and then dug a shield nickel. Not too long after I got a really nice sounding quarter signal and only a few inches I was holding my first seated quarter:headbang: Four seated, Barber quarter and 20 indians from here so far

The indians are all pretty toasted so im not gonna bother cleaning them up much but the shield nickel is pretty remarkable with a readable 1867 date

What an incredible site! Congrats!

now that's a nice site full of oldies! any modern coins at this location?

Found a very small amount of clad just outside of the hotspot area and one 1951 wheatie in the hot spot. All the rest are oldies. Im hoping the whole field ends up beng a hot spot though as we havent had to explore much out of the area of the seated finds

Also like everyones opinion on cleaning the quarter. Im leaving the dime as is. Quarter little banged up from plowing so not gonna hurt value of it much

Great finds. You need to go pound the hell outta' that site.

Just wonderin' what the story is behind the site you got there. old park, picnic grounds, fair location? As you have stated some time back, you sure do dig a lot of Indians. Is this the same site as back then, so full of IHP's ? You def have a sweet spot:thumbsup:

WOW

No this is a different spot. That spot was a church built in around 1855. Didnt get any seated there but did get around 40 indians. Thought I would get at least one seated there. This new spot will probably end up producing more indians than that and it has given up the seated so quickly. This field definately had a 19th century home on it at some point but beyond that i cant say:laughing7:

Congrats on some great finds. I'd flip over a seated quarter. Hope to get one someday.

Thanks again everyone. I've been thinking about what has been found here so far and everything but the 1911 Barber quarter is in that 1850-1885 range with most falling between 1870-1885. The Barber was actually found a little bit away from all the Indians and seated silver. Hoping I get into a pocket of Barbers here too.

Great spot!!!! Nothing wrong with seated silver!!!!:icon_thumleft:

Got most of the tarnish off. Not too bad after being pushed around by a plow most its life

Great job on the seated silvers. Looks like the Indian Heads have a nice patina under that dirt.
