Probably one of my best days detecting ever. 4 silver rings, one gold ring, 2 silver pendants, one with a silver chain, 8 copper religious medallions, 3 copper rings, 2 old padlocks, seven tags and I still havenโ€™t cleaned out my pouch. Almost forgot, a Rosie, a merc and a wheatie in a bezel.

Iโ€™ll post some close ups once things are cleaned if youโ€™re interested.

Outstanding hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

Seriously thinking they should drain the lake here where the teenagers party. That would be some massive finds. Congrats on some great stuff.....

STAY OUT THERE! Have you tried digging a trench in a hot spot yet?
When I had this opportunity back in 2009 there were some guys that were smarter than others and set up a big gas sifter and cleaned up with around 300 gold rings. Yes, I said 300 gold rings. Who knows how many silver coins and rings they had.
Grats and ENJOY!!!
Wow! That is CRAZY!! I was eating dinner with the wife, telling her about this... and it jogged her memory (sheโ€™s always on the lookout for great spots for me)
She said โ€œHEY... that just reminded me, there was an old railroad tressel that all the high school kids would jump off if in the summerโ€. So thereโ€™s a spot Iโ€™ve got mentally marked when it gets warm enough. Ddf

Joe that is awesome! You really killed it! Congrats!

WOW!

It's pirate treasure,.....

Hey, is that rod used to straighten out bent rings? I have found a few silver rings and could use something like that, if that is what it is.... Just curious. AWESOME finds!

Congrats Joe - can't wait to see your next finds!

Wow. Those are some big rings. That cameo is awesome and the gold ones are huge.

Itโ€™s just stamped sterling inside and nothing outside. I e attached some photos of various quality for you (;

This is an awesome series of threads that you have shared with us! Congrats on all the great finds. Like the best threads, it is thought-provoking. Yesterday, I was thinking about these hunts on a long drive to my old supervisor's retirement luncheon from DNR and it occurred to me that some state websites can have info about these pond drawdowns. In MA, there are hundreds of old dams in need of repair. In many states, there is a division of dam safety that inspects dams. Some post info online about repairs. Such repairs usually require drawdowns or partial drains. In addition, the state fisheries websites often post info about drawdowns because it affects fishing and stocking. I think this might be a source of research that many of us have neglected.

You are getting the good stuff now, sweet. I'm on the next plane to MA! Must be good signals everywhere, like a feeding frenzy.

I'd be in a wet suit!! Congrats to ya Mr. Joe Bob :icon_thumright:

Most of the stuff we found was in a 30x10 yard stretch of old, now supposed to be under water beach. Weโ€™re headed back in an hour (;

Absolutely a day for the history books. Congratulations on the super haul of precious metal jewelry and coins. Anybody else doubt that this swimming hole was used by the parishioners of a local Catholic church? Maybe a church summer camp nearby? Nearly all of your religious jewelry is Catholic specific, I believe. Woo Hoo! Sub 8-)
