Dowsing rods

Hi! Recently I got into gold hunting,bought my first metal detector and everything needed. Now,some of my friends told me that I can also find gold with dowsing rods,and I really wanted to challange myself,so I've decided to make them(and also to make them more "powerful" I've decided to play with electricity). So,is here anyone who can explain to me how to connect everything? Like what do I need,what kind of materials and stuff like those? Only thing that I know is that I should use copper,9V battery(or more), isolate that so I don't shocked,and at the end of rods to put the thing I'm looking for. So yeah,long story short,I need to make all that to work and for battery to last(not to just lose the power once I connect everything). I need all of the help I can get. Thank you!
