I thought I'd try a dowsing experiment. Why do I need to detect and for what?

Only signal so far is here.

Maybe more going toward bottom right,

It's probably more likely a flint object/tool or piece/chip, but by all means metal detect. Didn't take any check on depth either.

The red circle signal I believe, could actually be from the removal of arrow head, then going toward bottom right should be a new target, not sure of the depth here yet.

Some where in the 2-3 ft depth range.

I guess at first, thought you must have posted a photo of the digging spot. If this is a map, looks like a new site to dig.

The oral history of the place indicates that the group of circles is over the location of a barn site from around 1920. No surface evidence of the barn currently. I'd detect it this weekend.

Old barn site, place to metal detect. Local farmer here once buried gold bullion coins in his barn, forgot location and needed a person, who owned a metal detector to find them. Old corn cribs another place caches were made sometimes.

There were 2-3 parts of large red outer circles produced signals, didn't really do a cache search but now a good reason too do that also.

1920's barn ---- reminds me of my Dad and Moms old home place which had a chicken house, barn, crib and smoke house. Smoke house would be a real good spot for the butter and egg money to be safe.
Remember how I said to locate old buildings? Give it a try, and good luck. :coffee2:

Gold arrow/circle my best gold hit.

Hunted the spot a little this weekend but I'm going to have to save most of the hunting for when the field is mowed next. Didn't find much of interest other than a really neat fox den.

Will definitely check it well whenever it gets mowed.

It really helps to have a field mowed, :coffee2:

Red_desert, check this line:

There could be another site off the edge of corner. Right in the corner is a little bit of archaeological signal.
