Detector(s) used
Pocket dowsing L- Rods shown above. Whites Beach Comber, Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II, Whites TM 808, Canon 350D EOS Digital Rebel XT DSLR Camera.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
This is a picture of three items I found while dowsing today: 1. A piece of a tin can. 2. A bent tent peg. 3. Part of a rusty nail. I found them in that order while downing. Yes, they are junk items but the point is, I found them while dowsing. Now according to some people, dowsing does not work and therefore this should not have happened. But it did.

The piece of tin can was directly under where my rods crossed (ground zero). The other two were off to the side of center within a few inches of ground zero.

More dowsing finds coming soon.

If someone doubts you, don't let it bother you. I use dowsing to find iron property corners and it works. Every time.

I learned dowsing in engineering school as a make-do way to find water pipes. It has always worked for me and i believe the science (geomagnetism theory) is there to back it up.
But don't worry about naysayers, they probably don't believe in the Easter Bunny either - no candy eggs for them!!

Speaking of water, check this story out.

I just finished planting some vegetables today, while doing this I found a similar assortment of metal to that pictured above. I didn't dowse, detect or even think about what was underground. I didn't bother with photo's sorry, I just threw it all over the fence, where I keep such things in case I ever need them. Nuggy

I have a friend who does dowsing and has since he was a kid, he inherited it through his family and through the years he's been doing it with great success.

OK sounds like fun & I'm sure it works, specially for those big items suggested above like markers & waterpipes. My question is; have you found anything really good, like a spanish silver?

Detecting is gold.

Keep in mind the dowsing I am referring to is done with 2 "L" shaped metal rods/wires (e.g., welding rods, etc.) that you are holding in each hand very loosly. The willow switch method I am not sure about. Reason being in most places if you simply point to the ground with a willow or your finger, and if you did deep enough, you will eventually hit groundwater which was the early use of willow branches. But the metal rod dowsing is explained scientifically much the same way MD-ing is explained. And yes it does work with coins - try it!
There are many wonders of this earth thanks to the Maker of it!
Happy Easter and go for the gold.

I personally have not yet found something real nice like aSpanish gold coin or bars. I do know of people though who have found silver dollars and gold items while dowsing. One friend in particular dowsed out a gold target that was 5 miles away. He did it using the triangulation method. To date, my longest distance in dowsing out a target is about 90 feet away. I’m working on greater distances. But like those who use electronic metal detectors only and don’t dowse, very few find those really high value items or if they have, they are not talking about it.

Dowsing has yet to prove itself under “controlled scientific conditions.” But out in the field, it’s an entirely different matter. I have dowsed way out in the isolated deserts of southern Utah where I have never been before and found buried things directly under where my rods crossed. I can’t explain it but it’s a fascinating thing and it works great.

I was beyond skeptic about dowsing before I saw and tried it myself. I bought a house in AZ and I had sewage backup so I saw where my pipe went out of the house but there was about 200 yards to the road and when I opened then man hole cover the pipe came in at a weird angle so there was some bends in the pipe in that 200 yard area and that bend was most likely the clog so I wanted to just dig that up. My neighbor came by who lived next door for years to introduce himself and see what I was up to and if I needed help. He had me go grab him 2 coat hangers and he was able to follow the pipe and find the bend with in a foot. He showed me how and I walked the same path and the wires did the same thing. I was doubtful but once I dug it proved true. Never used it to find treasure but it was damn good at finding a 4 inch iron pipe.

me and a friend tried dowsing when we were kids by using coat hangers cut and bent into 'L' shapes. it did work and we found a couple of pennies and some other junk.
