What still isn't clear is whose flask was it, what is the emblem, and how does a date of 1811 work for German East Africa, when here was no German colonial activity before 1885... unless it's not a date at all but some kind of serial number?

I suspect that the logo is simply a knock off of the symbol...

Ditto since the Atomic Number for Mercury is 80.......So I don't get the 1811 connection to Mercury, so I must be stupid!

It's supposedly some sort of antique German stove with magical powers (think... SCAM).

There are loads of them on the internet once you know how to search for them. Many in Africa have been duped by these con-men. Don't be that guy.
