double stamped ring?

looking closer at the ring I recently found I think it' double stamped 14k but I see 18k in the back ground ,acid test holds fast on 14k but just curious has anybody seen this before..:icon_scratch: 20160605_175145_HDR_resized.jpg

Welcome to the wonderful world of scammers. Doesn't cost them anything to try to overstamp a higher grade and then sell it as 18k to some unsuspecting person.
 

Yes, I have seen this many times before but only a hand full of times in the US.

Normally the ones I have seen like this also have a stamp that say Roma or Italy. 95% of the time it is not gold at all.

Just test it and see if it is real or not.
 

Well if you tested and it's 14K at lest, thats good. Maybe a jewler can tell you if its 18K.
 

sometimes the band is one and the gold in the setting is the other
or the use 2 diff karat to give 2 tone look
