Yesterday a nice new detector came in, the Nokta Double Score. I bought this for my wife who wanted something else other than what she had. We talked about this for the better part of a week and looking at different things. Seems it was a good choice and it will compliment the Legend well. Went to a school that we've hunted multiple times over the years and last went a couple weeks ago. They are tearing up the chip bark lot so it was a good time.
Some shocking things happened today with the Double Score. First off, this thing is really running hot. I had to dial the sensitivity all the way down to 5 to get chattering stopped (no, noise cancel didn't help). At most I was able to run it at 6. But that isn't hurting this beast as I soon found out. I picked up a solid but less loud signal and dug all the way down 11 inches to find a copper penny.. That's insane! I've rarely recovered coins that depth with my Equinox 800. The target ID on this was also solid at that depth, showing a straight 45. Went on to find a quarter at 7 inches in the same lot. And a dime at 8 inches.
One of the dimes in the picture was a eye find, the other shiner was in the pile of chip they had stacked up. Yep, I got all over it. Fished out 3 quarters in there also, and found another in the area they had scraped. And yep, I found 2 bullets, one of which is a flattened out 22, the other seems to be a 380. At the school, no less. Not the first time I've found bullets at schools though.
I'm sort of blown away at the performance of this detector for the current price. I knew it was going to be decent but had no idea it would punch so deep in the ground. And it is not limited to doing just that either, it's also great on small items. I was concerned at first due to it being so chatty and me having to reduce sensitivity so much but this thing must have left the factory with a super tune or something.
All in all, today was hot, humid and the ground was like concrete but it was enjoyable. The Double Score is no joke!
