double buffalo error

gotta be a fake, if not you have an EXTREMELY high dollar item if you can get it authenticated. picture NEEDED

Its 100% fake. The dies for the obverse and reverse have a special feature that doesn't allow them to be interchanged. Still some pics would be cool.

Two Ways to make these.

1. Machine 2 real buffalo nickels and fuse the 2 parts
2. Someone ahs access to, or has their own, die press and makes these.

You can buy them at magic stores, even still Buffalo ones. I have a two-headed Jefferson nickel I found in a box from brinks.

It looks, feels, and sounds real. I don't have a jewelers scale to weigh it. I'm skeptical. But it was in circulation and it's been well used and circulated. This isn't some cheap tin coin. I'm taking it to a coin shop tomorrow, will update....

You can take it where ever you want, but it is a novelty coin. Sure it looks circulate. You don't think they would use mint state coins for this would you? ::)

Let's be clear. I'm skeptical about this being anything but a trick coin. sorry I even posted it...

They are made from real coins. Some are just coins that have been sawed in half and then soldered back together (you can see the seam on the rim). Somewhat nicer ones have one coin hollowed out, then the other lathed down and pressed inside the hollow one. That's how mine was done; you can see the lettering is cut off slightly, but the rim hides the seam fairly well.

It's still a cool find, and they are actually worth more than a nickel, since they would cost you 5-10 bucks at a magic store or someplace.

Get a regular nickel and drop it on a hard surface, then drop that thing. The first will go 'ping' like a real coin, the next will go 'tunk' because it was sawed in half and glued together. A real us coin has a bell like ring.

I had a 64 ken like that.

Fun find though, keep it for 'Heads or Tails' LOL

You can see the seam in the lower picture. Look between the five cents (6 o'clock) and the buff's head ( 9 o'clock). Sure wish it were real for you, but I'm thinking.......no.

About a month ago I got a double headed 1964 Kennedy half dollar trick coin.
Two coins were very well cut and had both heads nicely put back together to make
the coin. 90%er too! Anyway, it makes an interesting conversation piece.
Enjoy it.

that "seam" is where the coin went through the roller, it was an ender coin. but the rim has a very slight cross-section, this has been worn down i feel by being circulated, who ever made this coin did it right. fooled me for a moment.

Why are you sorry? :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Because OP got chastised and condescended to over posting about it.

No one likes to be belittled - especially in public.
