Today’s find in a field in Western Connecticut is made of brass (?). It is ornate and not symmetrical. At first I thought door lock hardware but looking at the way it’s shaped it reminds of me of some type of a lock plate or side plate from a gun? I know nothing about this topic so I’m just taking a wild guess here.

Thanks for looking.
Nick

Brass Candle Snuffer Wick Trimer Scissors

Thanks to some help from Isaac, a fellow metal detectorist, I now know this to be part of a pair of Brass Candle Snuffer Wick Trimmer Scissors, probably late 1700s to early 1800s. There is a similar one for sale currently on a popular on-line auction site. The attached photo is from that auction. Except for the point, it is almost an exact match! SOLVED  PS: I think that my point is much fancier. :icon_thumleft:
