Just got done with a late day hunt with a couple of the boys. Pulled my first copper off my family's farm. It got hit around the farm house years ago by a friend of of the caretaker [emoji35]. So I went hit a hill near the house. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1493256981.087007.jpg
One of the guys pulled a Indian off the hill as well when they got there.
As we were searching my wife pulls up as I was getting a good tone( 1974 Lincoln). And as she and I were talking she says "there is a blue bird under the truck". I'm thinking maybe an eastern blue bird. But no it was a indigo bunting. He hung around back and fourth between our vehicles for long enough for me to call the guys over to see him. Have to say it's still my favorite bird to see here on our little island.
After that the boys and I decided to hit a field near by and I had a excellent night. Got these two coppers ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1493257498.973054.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1493257524.808000.jpg
Then this button ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1493257597.012562.jpg

So my question is. What is this button. And if anyone has info on the Belgian? Copper that would be great.

Life is good. Thanks for the look

Any idea what it is depicting? a boat or factory? A steel back 2 piece button, is usually mid 20th century. But it could be an older tin back

Hi; I believe it is a Mid 20th Century button that was a depiction & Tribute to the Tankers that ran the East Coast at the time. The most famous is that of the Edmund FitzGerald. I believe your button is one of these. I also notice that I can clearly see the number 1 with what looks like the number 8 beside it. I think if you can safely clean it you may see a Date on it. It could also be a ships Call Numbers as well ok. Nice Find. PEACE:RONB

Upon closer inspection this morning. The back is definitely "rusted" off. A third is still there w sins of rust. The front, the figure on the right that looks like a person is definitely a smoke stack w puffs of smoke coming out. The far left is a us flag. Not sure what the big tower is but it has a ladder on it.

Wow that's an odd image on that button.

Assuming it is a ship, I looked for anything with a large structure near the bow.

I found early 20th C airship (blimp) tender ships. Here is a photo of one anchored off Nantucket in the 1920's:

I'm not saying that's what you button is, but this is where the research took me...

I wonder if the button could be depicting a fort?

Can you do a rubbing of it that might bring out more detail or if anyone else has any ideas on how to get more detail please suggest how.

Could it be some type of C/W ship?
