If you can write out what it says that might help with searches. When I enlarged pictures the backside of Medal was blurry and couldn't make out what it said.

Can't find an example doing a search. With what seems like multiple dates on the eagle side, maybe a commemerative medal. Dates look like they predate WWII from what I can see.

I think Novara is a town in N. Italy between Torino and Milan. I remember going through Novara on the train. That was over 30 yrs. ago so not positive. Gary

I could use a clearer pic of the reverse.
What is that polished medallion with the eagle?

After a few hours looking at this, I think the writing is from the bottom of the rusty/crusty side, and the shiny/eagle side is the other side of it. I thnk it's the same medallion, as I initially thought we were looking at two different things.

I'm officially stumped.....Some of the dates correspond with the founding of Italian states etc, but I can't figure them all out. The verbiage comes up with nothing that I can find.

Wondering if maybe the V is a U, like in classical Latin writings.

Novara is a city in Italy, as already stated.
Pal ? ? ?
Sassabi might be Sassari a city in Italy.
Redidv
Polazzo is also a city in Italy.
Levani might be Levane a city in Italy.
Badan

A lot of the dates correspond with battles for independence and unification etc.

I’ve looked for it but I can’t find anything but at first I didn’t see it as being something real or even rare

This thing has me curious and I would love to see it identified. At night when I'm laying there trying to sleep, I look af it again and try different search parameters.

You might try typing what is on it including the dates, versus writing it out, would make it easier to copy and paste for searches. More so for people like me using my phone, versus my computer.

Don't know how bad the corrosion is, but maybe taking a pencil and paper and take a rubbing of it and see if the letters are easier to read.

I'm seeing the following:

1848-49 First Italian War of Independence
1855
1859 Second Italian War of Independence
1860-61 Expedition of the Thousand
1866 Third War of Italian Unification
1870 Annexation of Rome
1913-14
1915-18 Involvement in WWI
1935-36 Second Italo-Ethiopian War

Maybe someone has better guesses......

I think a key to identifying this medal is right here on top. Can you tell us what this says? I see a 12 15 and what looks like 1946, an important date in Italys history but I cant read between that. The photo is just a little out of focus and/or it might be indoor lighting
