Yea the water up there is tease. it stinking hot you want to go for swim but you know its going to hurt. I had soft spot for Harvey bay. I fished in cook town river. Did think much of Cairns. Port Douglas was nice. I had a third shares in a small gold mine west of there.

Ah what beauty still think it was the best reliable car Holden ever made. Best paint jobs ever. Only problem on the coast they had tendency to rust. We used to fish oil inside all doors and sills. Easy to work on. I had a Holden sand man when panel vans was all the rage. Used to put surf boards in the back and excellent at drive in movies. Different world back then.

😄 They were awesome for drive in movies weren't they. And 100% easy to work on. I used to do heaps of my own work on it and a Torana I had. My car now I can't even get my hands into 80% of places! The Sandmans were cool, worth a bit now days if you still had one. Wish I still had my Torana, not to drive but to sell 😂
Cairns went downhill over the yrs. When we were up there the only thing in Port Douglas was a pie van! Few homes and that was it. Could walk anywhere on the beaches, get coconuts. Few yrs later went back and you couldn't walk on anything, all owned by resorts.
Yeah mate we saw those areas in the good days. Even my mate in Yeppoon said recently that I wouldn't recognize it now if I went there. Funny to talk to someone like yourself that knows it all that well. 👍👍
