Today while detecting with the dfx, I hit a heart shaped dog tag, vdi 68 ...with around $4.50 in clad... The dog tag looked old but I noticed the address on the tag was only two blocks from where I was hunting.

So when my hunt ended..the street was one way the other way... I dropped my gear in car and walked over to the address and there was a lady in front... I asked her if she lived there and if she knew "Annie" (name on dog tag). She said that is Annie as her dog came out front. I explained to her how I found the dog tag.

I handed it to her...she did not even say thanks! She just mentioned after I told her exactly where I found it she throws a tennis ball in that area that her dog chases... Now I remember why sometimes it is not worth the effort...

There are people in this world that are like that and don't have a
clue what life is about. . . don't let it get you down, you did well

Been there a couple times and I wonder how rude some people are, then when you find something and you see the smile on someones face when you return a lost item it does make the rude ones fade!!

That is true Jack.... Guess I am a little burnt out... Been going out every day since middle of month... It has been hot and taking the time to walk over and the walk back from her house made me think I should of just kept it.... Oh well you are right.... One smile erases the thoughts I had of this bit$h!

You did the right thing Gregg even if it didn't seem like your efforts were appreciated. So,are you swingin the explorer more than the dfx these days?

I tell ya what, if you would have gave it to "Annie" she probably would have licked your hand and wagged her tail. Just goes to show how thankful a dog can be

Yes Jerry I really like the Se... It took me a little while to get used to it... But for me I notice an increase in depth.... The only thing that puzzles me with the Se is gold jewelry.... In that area the dfx was easier for me.... I still get the dfx out once in a while...like today.... But with the dry ground and hot weather the Se seems to be the way to go right now...

True... :) I would have been better off talking to the dog.... Time for my nightly nap before work and tomorrow mornings hunt....

Thanks everyone for the responses... Got myself a new finds pouch to try out... Hopefully a few goodies in the morning... Take care everyone... :icon_sunny:

Thanks Gregg.I'm swingin a dfx and my brother an Se and he seems to always have the edge on me in quantity and depth. Love my dfx but next spring.....LOL

I think Nat's new dog should take a virtual poop on her front lawn.

If it were me, I know I would have loved to get the tag back, especially if my dog was no longer around. So, don't let it get you down - there are folks out there who would appreciate the return. You just didn't luck out this time.

Annie probably would have rather have had you keep the tag and gone home with you......

In that case I would have said "Your Welcome" regardless...guilt her into a thank you.

Somedays.... alls that are left with is.... "The resolve in our hearts that we did the proper things" and walk away and smile :-)

Some peeps just don't appreciate courtesy.
Don't let them take your Joy.........

Keep safe...

I was at the grocery store a while back and was waiting at the self-check deal behind a guy... he paid with cash, and the change (bills) came out into the tray... he reached down and grabbed it, but he didn't get it all... I said, "Sir, you left a few more bills there..." and the guy just looked at me, turned around and got the rest of the money, and turned back around and walked off... not even so much as a f*** you very much...

Now, I'm not trying to be a martyr or anything, but I just filed for Chapter 7 this morning, and I don't think anyone could've used that extra cash more than me, but that really yanked my chain... what happened to common courtesy? It comes down to the fact that it's my conscience that I have to live with, and I always try and do the right thing, regardless of my situation.

Good on ya, bud.

Sorry to hear about your financial problems... You did the right thing and this is what keeps us a somewhat civilized country... Hopefully everything works out for you...
